Yard + Spring = Mud (help)

Hey all...

So... John and I had wanted to put a fence in the yard once the spring came. However, we just found out that the landlord isn't going to pay to seed the yard or anything... meaning the yard is just going to be mostly mud, some moss, some grass and mostly gross. Thus, I can't see the logic in spending $100+ of my own money just to seed the damn thing and then $500+ for fencing, even if we can take it with us, when the house is not ours.

That brings me to my question... anyone ...

This problem probably originated in the early days when it was just Sioux and Bubba. When I began running it took months to get my legs and lower joints into shape. So I was taking many rest breaks back then. Of course, the boys were more than happy with having an opportunity to smell and pee on things. Repetition being what it is with dogs, they began to make quarter mile stops part of the routine. As my endurance increased Bubba started this thing where he would just collapse and lay down when ...

If you're like me, the dogs' nicknames change every now and then for unknown reasons. Sometimes it's a stupid thing they did that brings about a change, and other times it's a random grouping of rhyming words. My dogs have probably had hundreds of names throughout the years. Here is what they are being called as of December 12, 2009:

Sioux: Guhgger, Chuhgger

Coco: Stwing Bean, Vegemons', Cocomonster

Ridik: Yiyee, Stidee, Yee

Tambi: Poop, Gwoop

Bubba: Tentum, Saintement, ...

Ok so Rodney seems to shed more than Jax did and I find huge clumps of hair just laying around the house. I was wondering what everyone does to help keep the house as hair free as possible. ( I know that's asking for a miracle with a husky). It seems we buy a new vacuum every 6 mnths or so and last night I was noticing ours was kinda smelly like something was burning and it wasn't picking up the hair well so I guess its time for a new one. I do use a shop vac around the house and do the baseboards ...

Thanks to a friend on Facebook, I became the adoptive parent to a sweet 5-year-old male Siberian Husky named Buddy last Saturday. His owner went in the hospital and wasn't expected to come out, so his sister was trying to find a home for Buddy. He is so sweet and loveable.
I've had mixed reviews about this. We have a small female husky now, she lives in our apt.

She gets plenty of exercise, we walk her, take her to the dog park, I roller blade with her, and bike and hike on occasion. This keeps her well behaved indoors, and she is very well trained indoors now. We want her to have a husky companion, preferably a male husky with energy like hers so they can play together. Do you think it's do-able to own 2 huskies indoors as long as I keep up with how we raised ...

Hi all,

I was pointed to this group from a friend of mine that is a proud companion of a husky! I sure hope someone can help.

I came home this evening to a poor husky that had set up shop in my carport. It appears to be a girl and she's in bad shape. She's emaciated, has a slight limp, and has virtually no startle reflex - she was shivering in the middle of our carport and wouldn't even move when we approached her. My husband and I have fed and watered her and given her a warm place to sleep ...

Sometimes Ridik annoys the living hell out of me. Part of the problem is likely the fact that I am here all day with the dogs. But all of the other dogs are content being by themselves while I do other things. Not the idiot Husky though. He MUST be by my side nearly every time I so much as take one step. If I go outside, he goes outside. If I go back inside, he must go back inside. If I go upstairs... You get the idea. It's like I'm attached to him by an invisible leash about 15 feet long.

I meant to start this January 4th, 2010 when we began our more rigorous exercise routine. Since then I have covered about 180 miles and the dogs have done just over half of that. We're shooting for over 1,000 miles of running by the end of May. The other part of the equation is the weight. Fridays and Sundays are our new heavy weight days. On those days we don't run, and start out late in the day to maximize sun exposure while taking advantage of colder winter air. Malamutes are carrying the ...

Hi everyone, had a Great dane/Siberian Husky mix for 16 years , recenly died. The guy that gave us puppy when i was 8 years old , said that he probably wasnt gonna live more than 8 years because of his dane heritage, and he outlived all our other dogs lol. Anyway I want to get exacly same mix , thats the best ive had and i wanna get another one. Any idea if there are certain breeders that breed them? Thank you for your help.

Hi everyone.

This month as you probobly know is the Race to the Sky sled race in Montana. We have put on our website a very interesting article about the race and its history written by Pam Beckstrom who has been organising the race for the last 20 or so years. If you want to read the story please visit our website http://www.spiffydog.co.uk/waggin-tails.html and take a look.

Has anyone out there ever heard of the Seppela sled dog? We did research, and I tell you, our Nanuk looks just like a dog we saw on a website. The picture was from 1934 and it was uncanny how much like this dog he looked. I am trying to relocate the pic to post here. Any info anyone has about this particular breed of Sibe would be interesting to me.

Hi, I'm from the french part of the Canada, so excuse my poor english

I've adopted my first husky in June 2009. She's a White & Sand husky with beautiful blue eyes named Maya, and today she have 9 months. Two weeks ago, I've adopted a Black & White husky of 10 weeks named Jake. I have a yorkshire of 1 year too, but my "coup de coeur" goes to the husky breed

Here's some pics of my two babies !

This is Maya.

This is Jake at 11 weeks.
