took the pups to Petsmart to get on the scale and here are the numbers.
Jack at 2yrs ish- 56lbs
Sierra at 7yrs-59lbs (she has lost about 3lbs )

I have just recently put a deposit down on a cross breed. His Dad is Border collie so he's 1/2 and his Mum is 1/2 Siberian Husky 1/2 German shepherd. I'm picking him up on the 27th. What I'm worried about is that I know that Sibes will run and run when they are off lead, but I'm not sure if he will or not as he is only a cross. Should I expect prey drive/running and treat him as if he's a Sibe and never let him off lead or do you think he might be ok? We are going to start clicker training and ...

I've been mulling this over in my head for a week or two now. In all of the Huskies/Malamutes I encounter I really only see two major personality types. The first and most prevalent is the standard crazy, high prey drive and exuberant sled dog (Ridik, Jack, Kosmo, Coco). The guy that gave us puppy when i was 8 years old , said that he probably wasnt gonna live more than 8 years because of his dane heritage, and he outlived all our other dogs lol. Everyone says she will grow into them. But those don't look like a Husky to me. I could be wrong.

Changing Colors

So since we dont get enough snow around here etc.. I have started to rollerblade with Roxy. I use her harness and a bungee style leash with carabiners at each end which attaches to my belt and works great. Took her ten minutes to not be freaked out by me being on skates. Now the lil girl loves it and will pull me along the whole time if im not skating to the speed she wants haha. We are also working on commands so she knows where to go etc....

Anyone else tried this?

So we went to a new vet on Friday I thought they were ok/good. he checked Jack out first weighting in at only 46lbs, said everything seemed and felt good, asked about his hips and we said he was fine, not sure why he asked but I guess it was nothing, he also showed us how to brush their teeth on Jack, he was not happy. then we moved on to Sierra who is weighing in at 60lbs!!!!!! oh my I have no idea why, both dogs get the same amount of food (jack a little more) same amount of exercise and all. ...

So I started thinking about the unique talent/talents our huskies have and have decided that both of ours has at least one.
Sierra is our scavenger as she will find food any where even buried under 6" of snow. We will never starve with her around.
Jack is our watcher as he sits and looks out the window all day and will let us know if something is happening out side. we will never be caught off guard with him around.

Tommy just called as he was leaving the Vet's. Her staples were removed today (all 21 of them). Thanks, Brit! I understand she was a good girl. I'm glad about that, as far as her attitude was concerned.
So, now she gets to be around Nanuk & Mika. Hmmm.. it was kinda quiet this last week...
I am so very glad that she came through this ok. My stress level just dropped about 75%!

During the spring gathering in the Mosquito Range, he failed to make it work due to snow conditions. It was just enough to get him really into making it happen.
