I found the "So You're Thinking of Getting a Husky?" thread to be a real eye-opener, I didn't quite realize how much Husky-Proofing a house required but I'm use to my pets getting into everything and anything (I have a ferret and two cheeky birds) but will definitely take more measures once I finally do get my puppy.

I think the thread scared my boyfriend a bit (he's more of a cat/ferret type) but I have a year or so to calm him down

Gabe is home finally. We got a call from a truck driver that happened to go into a store that had a picture of our boy posted. This man said he had petted gabe a few days ago and gave us a phone number to the people he thought had him. As my husband was talking with them, I was having a fit wanting him to give me a clue if it was or was not gabe. After a few minutes of chatting and describing him he told me that it could be him but that the lady thought the dog she had was an akita. The truck ...

Let me tell you a little about our son Gabe, he is a red sib, 1 year old. Gabe could do many tricks including up, down, sit, lay and the lastest was a low crawl. He was famous for husky hand holding and would pull anyones jacket off who came to visit. He wanted to be the center of attention which we gladly gave him. Gabe had lots of room to exercise, he was attached to a zip line but came in every night, he had his choice of sleeping places in our home, Yes, he was spoiled, we admit that.
I've had mixed reviews about this. We have a small female husky now, she lives in our apt.

She gets plenty of exercise, we walk her, take her to the dog park, I roller blade with her, and bike and hike on occasion. This keeps her well behaved indoors, and she is very well trained indoors now. We want her to have a husky companion, preferably a male husky with energy like hers so they can play together. Do you think it's do-able to own 2 huskies indoors as long as I keep up with how we raised ...

My male puppy looked solid black (where his coat was black) when we first got him, then he turned completely silver at like 10 weeks. Then around 16 weeks he was black again, but the only really solid black area is his head and his topline, the rest is black but it is like a smoky black, not quite silver... I was also wondering about the reds. My red was adopted as an adult and I had no baby pictures to look at:( So when they are younger do their coats tend to look darker?
Just curious, how much / what type of exercise does your husky usually get?

We live in a townhouse, so Roxy doesn't really have a backyard she can play in. She gets at least 4 - 6 walks each day, and I try to take her on an adventure every weekend (this past weekend we walked a few miles at Ijams Nature Center).

I would really like to get a bicycle and a harness of some type to attach to the front of it (as seen at this link - http://www.flickr.com/photos/trojanllama/sets/72157594293795453/ ...

I am fairly new here, and this might have been touched on before, but I was wondering how many members actually train and run their dogs for mushing.

And, am I neglecting something if we don't mush ours?

We have hooked Nanuk to a recumbant bike (like a longer with wheels) and he seemed to enjoy it. But tho we live in Michigan, we are not in the UP and do not get quite as much snow as they do up there.

There are some locals who get together with other Husky owners and are thinking ...

Alright. I'm slowing chiseling away at my parents and the little fella that my friend adopted has just about pushed them over the edge. Now they want proof. So let's see it.

Are two (or multiple) huskies better than one? My argument regards loneliness and that they're a pack animal. They're argument is that Sitka will get jealous of the attention that the other dog gets.

I want links, personal stories, experiences, facts, you name it. Just make sure that there are a couple valid ...

Ok so this might sound like a weird question but recently my family has been trying to think of ways that we could keep Loki active mentally. He's supposed to be an unusually smart breed and he really doesn't have much to keep him thinking on a regular basis and we can tell he's getting bored. Can anyone suggest something like a puzzle or game or something that wouldn't necessarily require physical activity but would make him use his brain more?
