PostSubject: Potty Training Question   Tue Jun 25, 2013 4:22 pm

Hi there! Bane is 15 weeks old today and is kind of potty trained. It will be a bit of a long drug out thing until I get to the question. He was running the house until recently when I came home at lunch to find cardboard ripped up, and several of my custom coasters broken. We went and got him a crate that night and set to work feeding him in it, putting him in there for 15-20 minute intervals, and rewarding him when he didn't bark/howl/chirp. Now, we still have a puddle pad out for him since he still is not letting us know when he has to potty. I had cleaned up where the puddle pad is yesterday and he alerted me within seconds that he needed to go outside. I praised him as soon as he did this and took him outside and pottied him. We do not lock him up at night. He sleeps on the floor, on a blanket next to Tyler. He is EXTREMELY good at night alerting us when he has to go outside and go potty. My question is this; is it bad to still have the puddle pad out while we're attempting to crate train him? Should we begin picking up the puddle pad when we're home? I think that he is also starting to mark and I'm honestly not 100% sure if we should leave it or pick it up...Thanks for any input.

Some more information. My husband and I both work. He's in the Army and is gone for 12 hours a day. I work Wednesday-Friday 9-5 25 feet from our condo. When I am home he is taken out regularly as well as on the weekends. He has NOT been in a crate until just recently after chewing up some stuff. He will begin being in a crate for approximately 3-4 hours at a time while I am at work. I am able to come home and take him out to potty if necessary. Any suggestions? Thanks.
