Top layer chunk missing from front paw pad? Empty
PostSubject: Top layer chunk missing from front paw pad?    Top layer chunk missing from front paw pad? EmptySun Jun 30, 2013 10:50 am

So I check my dogs pads like every day just to make sure I dont miss if they are ever hurt and today I found a chunk missing out of his front paw pad. He doesnt ever run on cement or on ant hot surfaces so I have no idea how this happened and where its sunday and he isnt limping on it so I figure I will wait to call the vet tomorrow. We use mushers secret on them as well just not booties. What should I do to help the healing and how serious is this? Also sorry f or any errors I am on my phone!

This exact thing happened a couple weeks ago to Bode and I was bewildered why it happened. A few people on here told me to put Vitamin E or Neosporin on it and Musher's Secret or similar on top. It healed pretty quick and never seemed to bother Bode one bit!

Okay. That makes me feel a lot better, i was kind of worried cause its never happened before. Sorry if this is a repeat thread too. I searched some words but nothing came up. Did you cover it up with anything or just put the stuff on and leave it?

I didn't cover it, but it wouldn't hurt if your pup seems to want to chew or lick at it.

Thank you! Of course I searched paw and not paws... haha. I will keep an eye on it and do everything that is suggested in the thread.

He should be fine if you keep it clean and use the stuff mentioned. Could a pricker of some kind get stuck in the pad and he chewed it out? That happened with jack in the past.

Maybe.. Come to think of it he did kind of jump on a walk the other day, but I thought it was his back paw that he might of stepped on something and maybe now the chunk is just noticeable and I didn't look in the right spot. Do you think a bee sting could do that to their paws or no?

Hard to say without a pic but yes if a stinger got in there and you did not notice he could have chewed it out. Jack is a "man" and it takes a lot for him to start limping if something is in his pad!

Yeah, I have a girly little boy and he isn't limping so I guess it can't be to painful for him but I still felt like an awful mom and was like panicking. But I will try the vitamin e and put mushers secret on top of it, and see how it goes. If it doesn't get better, I will post a picture and see if it could be anything else.

Thank you!
