| Welcome! Nice to see a fellow service member join, I'm active Navy You should post pictures of Spartacus when you get a chance. Also, and I know it's a little bit of a drive, but I run an H2M2 (Husky Huddle and Malamute Mingle) in Maryland. Our August meet up is actually going to be in Frederick, which isn't terribly far for you if you'd like to come. I need to post the details on here, but we also have a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/190452957669203/ Semper Fi! _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. Semper Fi! I actually live in Southern Lancaster about 5 minutes from the mason-dixon line. So really not all that far from me. During the school year which starts at the end of august it will be a bit of a drive. I would love to come to one of the meet ups, of course after Sparty has all his vaccines:) |

| Yep, but the puppy phase goes by so quickly. Unfortunately he won't be done with his shots by the August meet up, but potentially by the September. I rotate them around the state, and I think as the weather cools down we're going to do some other things like hikes. Can't wait to meet you guys, Spartacus is just beyond cute. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Thank ya thank ya, Yeah hikes definitely sound like fun. As soon as Spartacus can handle it we're gonna hike Mt. Nittany up at school. A nice 5 mile trail. I'm sure he will do better then I will! Looking forward to some possible meet ups! |

| Nice, that sounds like fun. We might have to make the trek up there from Annapolis for that one Do be careful pushing him to do stuff like that, for general walks a good rule of thumb is 5 minutes per month of age. For hikes you can probably get away with a little more, but definitely play that one slow and ease him into it. Otherwise you risk damaging his growing joints. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | That would be correct Unstructured running around yards and dog parks is ok, structured stuff is what does the real damage. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | Thanks for the tip then! I have risen a husky before so I would like to think I know what I'm doing but I can see I am going to delve in the vaults of this forum and gain even more knowledge for Spartacus's sake! |
