Has anyone tried it?
I read about it this week and it really seems to be a very good dog food.

Orijen is one of the best dog kibble food around. The only food better is probably feeding raw. Acana is owned by the same company and a little cheaper (a little less protein too 60%, if your dog can't handle the 80% content Orijen maintains and are loyal to the company Acana is your next best bet) it comes in about 5-6 different flavors so you can rotate flavors monthly. They also make a bag for puppies. It is however really expensive, pay for the quality I guess, 15lb bags run around 35-60$ while the 30lb bags run around 65-85$. Their other line Acana is typically 10-20$ cheaper.

Orijen is a very popular food over here in the states and fed by many, myself included, with great results.

My sibe can't have beef or fish so the original formula is the only one I can use, even that one I have to use with caution since it contains fish. All the formulas are good though and many people rotate between them.

Ok thx. I will definately try it. At the moment I´m feeding Wolfsblut, which is similar to Timberwolf, it is a very good dog food but the Orijen formula sounds better.

I'm so glad I found this topic. My little guy is so damn picky, and I feel like what Im currently giving him isnt so great. Ive tried Blue Buffalo, Science Diet ((recommended by Vet)) and now he is on Natures Verity.

Im deff going to try this brand. It is really pricey, but I feel like thats a big sign that its worth it.

dog food that is recommended by vets is mostly crap. many vets have contracts with dog food companies, atleast here in Germany.

i feed Orijen for half a week now. Of course besides the fact that Anubis loves it I can't tell much by now. The only thing I noticed is that he seems to be a bit more hyper. Either it is just imagination or because of the high protein level.

I feed Orijen as well and I absolutely love it. Siku hated all food until I finally came across Orijen, and it really helped firm up his stools and we haven't had any problems since we started it. I switch between the original and the six fish, although I think the six fish smells really bad so I tend to by the original more.

Thats so good to know! Nanuq also dislikes his food, he just eats it when he realizes we arnt going to be giving him anything from our plates. On that note, Im actually having an issue with Nanuqs eating habbit. I think I know whats causing it, but wanted your opinions.

So, currently we are giving him Natural Variety, and he doesn't care for it. If I pour it in the bowl he looks at it and then back at me, as if saying "What is this shit?" LoL XD He has been rarley eating it! He will eat like once a day, which we have noticed him getting thinner. So naturally, Im worried, and want him to start eating well again. I personally think its because my sister, and dad are sneaking him table scraps, so he knows if he refuses to eat his food, he can get better.

Also, I think I heard that you cant leave the food out. I have seen so many dogs wolf down their food when their owner places it on the floor, and when its done, they wait till their next scheduled feeding. With Nanuq, he will walk away. So I left the bowl there all day, hoping he would eat it. I heard that this isnt the way, and that if he doesnt eat it, you take it away and try again much later? So I wanted to know, how often do you guys feed him. I know its 3 times a day, but how long between meals?

When Siku was a puppy, we had the same problem and I had no choice but to leave his food down or he would never eat, and he didn't get table scraps so that wasn't the problem. That went on for about a year and a half of me having to do unscheduled feedings, and it seemed like just one day he woke up and he eats at ever scheduled feeding now (two times a day). At first it made me scared, but we always do all the worm testing and stuff like that so I now know its not medical related because of the increase in appetite. Not saying this happens for every dog but it could happen to yours when he matures a little bit. I would say keep doing what your doing, and judge whats best for your dog! As long as you know he is healthy of course, and there is no underlying issues.

I know some people don't recommend leaving down the food, but that's just what worked best for me and my situation.

I feed Orijen 6-fish to my female (she does fish and venison) and Orijen Senior (mostly for caloric content) to my male and they thrive on it. I haven't looked into Whole Prey yet...

We feed Orijen Puppy to Kaikoura and she loves it. Like many other Sibes, she's very picky and won't eat all of the food unless I leave it down. But Orijen is a great food and if you don't mind the cost, I highly recommend it.

You're feeding it already, Claudia. Wink Their "whole prey foods" are not a separate or different line of food, it is a trademark used to describe the whole prey ratios in their existing foods both kibble and freeze dried.
