PostSubject: Fur patch loss HELP!!!   Thu Oct 31, 2013 1:13 pm

Hi husky community, recently my 7 1/2 month pup has an empty fur patch on his hind leg (only one). At first i thought it was going to be his first shed, but he hasnt shed anywhere else other then that one spot. Taking him a bath, I notice it was kinda red. It does not seem to irritate him and is not ichy for him so im just wondering is it fleas? the minge? or just normal shedding.

Thanks!

I would take this to the vet... Stark had a patch like that and it turned out to be Demodex.

How old is your dog?

Is that in an area that touches or rubs on the ground when he is laying down on hard surfaces? It's hard to tell in the pictures. I know you said it's the back leg, but my pup has thinning patches on the sides of his elbows from laying on hard surfaces. If you want to bring him to the vet just to be safe, there's no harm in that.

I'm not sure if rubbing it on a tree would do that... did the vet do a skin scraping & analysis?

Nope the vet said that she needed more "evidence" in the case of demo mange. She said somthing about "needs more systematic patches" or sumthing along those lines....
