Hi Everyone,
I'm new to forum and I have a 4 month old pup named Mya. I just started walking her about a month ago after all her shots and I had a few questions.
1. Potty training; when I first got her I trained her to go on the wee wee pads and she's been excellent. However she is getting bigger and I wanted to transition her to going only outside. It's been a hard task and she's only gone once outside. It happened at a dog run I bring her to twice a week on the weekends. I tried to praise her but I got all the other dogs excited there too. That was about 2 weeks ago and she hasnt gone outside since. She actually holds it in pee and poo until she gets home, she in fact runs to the box where the wee pads are. I dont want to yell at her for doing that because she will get confused. I tried bringing out wee wee pads outside but that didnt help either; any assistance would be welcome.... =)
2. Leash training; I started training her to not pull me with a 6 foot leash that I bought. I sometimes shorten in so she doesnt jump on people when we are walking down the street. She was starting to get it until my parents bought one of those leash extenders that go up to 26ft. I think this confused her and she doesnt listen too well when I walk her with the 6 foot leash. She pulls, wines and jumps like a mad person (haha..well mad dog I mean). Should I tell my parents to not to use the extended leash? The plus to the extend leash is that my parents do try to help out and walk her but can't run and exercise with her they way I can, so they bought the extended leash so she can run on her own. Second, I found running with her using the extended leash is much easier and we dont run into each other.
Should I stick to just one type of leash or can I use both?
3. I am a very active person and I love playing sports, I thought about getting a treadmill for (http://www.amazon.com/dogPACER-LF-3-1-Dog-Treadmill/dp/B00AMPX86Q/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1384380921&sr=8-9&keywords=dog+treadmill) her and training her to run/walk on it in the event I do get injured. Is this OK for her?
Thanks!
