Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Has anybody taken their husky sailing? Husband is wondering - I'm thinking not such a great idea - it will probably be too hot, except maybe spring and fall. The boat does have a cabin for shade but it still gets really hot down there.

Also, I can just see Ami's eyes light up when it comes time to change tack - all those lines flying, lets play tuggie!

Bode hates the water. We tried taking him in a canoe with us one time, he was super nervous. I think it really just depends on how comfortable Ami is around the water!

Not a horrible idea nala will float on a raft in our pool we first put her in the pool to keep her coat wet and cool and then have her sit on the raft she loves it! not so much the swimming aspect lol!

I have no clue how he is with water - we've only had him since Oct (though, now that you mention it, the first time we had him on his new trolley, we didn't get all the twist out of the line and it unwound the turnbuckle, I looked out the window and Ami was on the edge of the pool deck, with 120 ft of line wrapped around 5 pieces of pool furniture, poised to jump in....62 year old, arthritic lady never moved so fast affraid )

Actually, on the boat, he would get on from the dock, the boat has a free-board of at least 5 ft so he really would not have much contact with the water. I'm gonna' have to think about this.

My Bodhi loves water.
But he's the first husky I've had who does.
I've taken him out in a canoe, and he stayed in the boat.

Get Ami a PFD though.
