I just want to say we have the best group of friends and husky lovers! Sierra is out of surgery Doc. just called and said he thinks he got good margins but had to take a lot of muscle and it was tricky to stitch her back up but she is in recovery now. thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for her and us. lets keep it up and hope that we get good news back from the test on the mass that he got it all!!!
i will get a call in a few hours to see how she is recovering and im sure when we get there later i will have the full report on what they did.

So i talked to the vet and its in Sierra's best interest for her to spend the night, she will have 24hr care and they can watch her pain and she can rest vs/ sending her home with us and having jack at home bugging her. we will pick her up mid day tomorrow. im gonna go visit her after work to night.

I'm sure she will be quite spoiled and well cared for overnight and nothing will make her happier than to have her mama stop by. Smile

Congrats on the success thus far Jenn! Did the doc ever let you know about the margins? I know that a pathologist checks them for people, do they do the same thing for dogs, or do they just end it with fingers crossed? Here's hoping Sierra has a speedy recovery! (And that the weather stays warm for the sake of Sierra's now naked leg!)

Courtney,  they do send the mass off to be tested, so round one is done, she is recovering,  round two is waiting for the report to come back. Just as stressfull! As for the weather the cold is coming back and we got snow over night :(poor chicken leg

Oh and the doc thinks he got good margins, went as far as taking the layer that covers the bone but no bone.

Michael, i did one more pain med this morning cause this girl is like her momma and hides the pain well, she has to be hurting but is showing no signs really. she HATES the cone, keeps hitting everything with it and has trouble drinking water till she lines it up right! she cried when i took jack for his walk today, he is happy to have her home and is being good with her so far.
we camped out in the living room last night since she cant do stairs. my blow up bed has a slow leak and my shoulder is all jacked from that. but sierra slept by my side all night  I love you im a walking zombie today but its all good.

bed for the next 2 weeks.....

so sweet

results should come mon or tue and her follow up is the 3rd. i hate being at work right now and will head out as soon as i finish some things.

took sierra's bandage off on sunday and this is what we saw, did not look as bad as we thought it would. its about 5" long with about 20-21 staples in it. we ended up moving the queen mattress downstairs so we could sleep better the next week. i really hope to hear good news today, the stress of waiting i think is worst then the day she has surgery!
