Help?! My new puppy won't eat! Empty

Hey everyone!
I haven't introduced us yet but we're new to this forum. Myself and my friend Travis own a little red and white husky named Hanzel. The trouble is, he isn't eating much. He only weighs 5 pounds also so we're a tiny bit worried. All of the puppies in his liter were the same size and the vet isn't really concerned about his size (she's seen smaller), the only issue is he is a little thin. We've only had him about a week and at first he was having gross yellow diarrhea but now it's turned into a more substance like brown colored poop (still diarrhea though) but he only eats about half a cup of food a day. I don't know how to get him to eat more. He's so small and I'm worried he'll deteriorate if he doesn't eat more. He wasn't eating at all the second day home but now he's eating every so often. He sleeps most of the day but doesn't seem lethargic or anything like that. Does anyone have any advice on how to get him to eat more?

Hi, a couple of questions to help us give a better answer: How old is your pup? Did you change his food from what the breeder is feeding? What kind of food is pup eating? Did the vet do a stool sample, including checking for coccidia and giardia (beyond the standard check for worms)?

Hi, sorry I forgot to mention the details. He is 8 weeks old, we took him home at 7.5 weeks. The vet will get the stool sample in next week. He's currently eating Blue Buffalo Wilderness Puppy - Rocky Mountain Puppy recipe. He was eating the Nutrisca brand Chickpea and Chicken. I wasn't able to get the food yet because no local stores have it and it has to be shipped. We were thinking that maybe the reason was because he was the mommas boy and both him and the mom were very upset when he was taken away. He's seemed to adjust now and ate 3/4 of a cup but I'm still worried.

Give him time to adjust, many dogs, and pups, go through a period of not eating when their life has been turned ups tide down. If your vet isn't worried, I wouldn't be either.

I guess so. I just hadn't ever heard of huskies that are this tiny before. I love him regardless but I want him to stay healthy. The vet was only concerned with him being a little thin. That's why we're trying to get him to eat more. He's eating a tad bit more so things should keep getting better hopefully!

The change in food may be causing the issues with the runny poops. Hopefully his tummy adjusts soon. Smile
