Diet for Husky puppy- Issues Empty
PostSubject: Diet for Husky puppy- Issues    Diet for Husky puppy- Issues EmptyWed Jun 25, 2014 7:35 pm

Hello All,

I am in much need for advice right now. About 5 months ago I took in a full breed Alaskan Siberian Puppy (Khloe), she is wonderful and very loving. The breeder who I got her from advised that I keep her on the same diet she had the puppy in which is NutriSource Small and Medium Breed Puppy Chicken and Rice Formula. Since day one, I have had many issues with her digestive system. When she goes "Potty" it is either runny or sluggish. The first time I took her to the Vet they told me she had Giardia. I then started medication and also a pro-biotic. I decided to slowly switch her to Kirkland's puppy food and she seemed to improve. A few weeks passed and she started to have runny and sluggish stool. I took her once more to the Vet, ran test and came back negative on Giardia. They gave me more pro-bitoics and a medication card to buy Royal Canin Gastro Intestinal High Energy can food. Once I started to mix that in she began to get better. It has been a couple of weeks and now things are getting a little worse. I have not changed anything in her diet and she has really bad runny stool. I got more pro-bionics from the Vet but they are not helping. She is constantly going potty outside and one time she was not able to hold it she potty on her bed. I do not know what else to do. I try and keep fresh water for her to keep her hydrated, I watch what she eats, and I keep track of how many times a day she goes potty. Has this ever happen to anyone Else's puppy? Any advice?

Is your puppy de-worm up-to-dated?
Is your climate changing recently? That could cause temporary flare up.
Would you consider to change different diet for your pup? (I have heard quite a few pets on raw diet would solve the food allegic issue, even cooked one) Try pumpkin (lidy's) + white fish/ turkey( try new protein that your pup didn't have before), this should help sooth the guts. Pro-biotics is an good idea as supplement.
Good luck and all the best m=)

Yes, my puppy is up-to-date on everything. I have heard about the raw diet and was thinking about giving it a try. My puppy came from Joplin, MO to Riverside, CA. It's much hotter here but I keep my house very cool and she has a cooling pad on her bed to keep her cool. I will definitely research what you are recommending and I hope it works! Thank you for your feedback.

So when I brought my foster failure home he had horrible poops. Turned out he had worms. After his bout with worms he was still having runny poops. So I put him on a rice and chicken diet still runny added pumpkin, firmed up a little but still runny. Someone said try scramble eggs and rice. By then I was out of rice so I just gave him scramble eggs. He firmed up quickly, I bought rice and added a little and liquid again. This was how I found out he was allergic to rice. Any food or treat with rice is instant runs. You may want to try a food with no grains and see how she does. Django does great now.

Mine was like that, couldn't figure out why. Was wormed, wasn't ill but had the runs. After going into a local pet store did we realize that the people we got her off had started her out on adult food, not puppy food. Changed her food to adult food and she was fine then, completely solid
