Any advice on giving a husky a bath or washing them.. These are the most mischievous little fellows i have ever seen..

they are both covered in there own feces. dont ask how..

but i need to get this off. can i just give them a bath? they are 5 weeks. and staying inside until they are way older.

Yep, warm water and puppy shampoo. And make sure they are really dry since they are so young. I washed Kale in the sink when he was 5 weeks. I filled it up a little ways, and gently set him in, and started washing. The more gentle you are and understanding that it is a brand new experience for them the better. Give treats and lots of love before, during, and after to make it positive.

i would suggest putting a towel in the bottom of the sink or tub when you wash them. it's more comfortable for them to stand on. When i gave Dakota a bath without the towel on the bottom he flipped out and kept trying to get out of the tub once i started using the towel on the floor of the tub he would sit there calmly and endure the washing.

ok. with my other dog. he is a few months. he hates baths. but he has his reasons.. but i only put water ankle high. and use a cup and gently do it.

We did tough love and just roughed it out. Anna cried and screamed like I was killing her. Just made sure to give her treats, one in the beginning one in the middle and one in the end. I tell her it's okay baby and stop make make her look at me and she will calm down. It's easier with two people but you are probably always going to get soaked.

Wow I gave more than 3 treats with Kale! haha he got like 10-15! (little ones of course lol)

Well it's usually me by myself so it is not easy. Hahah. She tries to escape every time I go for treats. Hahah

for treats, for my 5 month old poodle/dashchund/jack russel, i give him cheese. but i gave them a bath/ they smell good and look better now

I try not to bath kao too often but when i do ive got an oatmeal and aloe wash thats very gentle on her skin, and like whats been mentioned before lots of treats!! I usually try to brush out any dirt and a bath is just a last resort.

I need to look into those wipes. We don't usually give Anna a bath unless she is very dirty which doesn't happen often because we don't have a yard to really play in. We haven't ventured into the dog parks yet so she doesn't really get dirty. Last couple of times she had a bath was because she had an accident in the crate and NEED a bath! But when she needs a bath the whole bathroom gets a bath as well as me and it drives me crazy because I am always wearing jeans and socks and I have a wet jeans and sock fetish. I cannot have wet socks, even if I step in a drop of water from Anna's water bowl I have to change socks orderly the pair I have on. I have always been like that even as a little kid not so much with the jeans though.

If I'm bathing Carolina alone, I usually put on my swimsuit and get in there with her. She doesn't try to escape at all that way.

That's what we do during the winter or in the summer we take them out into yard and use the hose. With Danzig though, if his blow out is really bad I just take him to a groomer. It's worth the money to me. They say he's good just howls at the fan when he's getting dried lol.

Kane got a bath tonight. We have a shower head that detaches into a handheld and its a lifesaver. It has a water saver setting on it so I can wet him, turn water saver setting, soap him, then rinse. I agree with the person above that the whole bathroom gets a bath, and I have to have one right after. I always get soaked, but he behaves pretty well. I had to wrestle him at first to get him in the tub, but now I can take a treat into the bathroom and tell him to get in the tub and he will. He loves getting towel dried, but absolutely hates the blow dryer, he has to tolerate it though because its cold now. I used dog shampoo at first and had a terrible time getting it all rinsed out. I also tried baby shampoo and it didn't work very well either. Now we use regular dandruff shampoo and have excellent results. He gets a bath about once every month or two, usually when he starts to smell very "doggy" and his white areas are yellowish or reddish (we have some areas with red mud around here).

I never thought we would break Kota of her terrible fear of the bathtub. The first dozen times we bathed her (Which was like once every 3 days, as she was awesome at getting covered in anything dirty) she would scream like we were just absolutly killing her. My husband or I would have to drag her, kicking and screaming and put her in the tub. We gave her half a bag of treat about everyime we tried!!! It took both of us, one to hold and the other to wash because if you let go of her for a second we was GONE! Eventually she started to just take it, though she still doesn't really like it.

Shes funny though, because she knows that water is in the bathtub so she typically gets in there just because to try and get a drink. Sometimes she will open the bathroom door when my husband or myself is showering and try to get in with us. Shes a nut.

We have yet to try and bath Skyler but I have a feeling its going to be an act of congress because she is so scared of everything!! We have planned on having a bath day for both the girls on Saturday so they will look nice and clean for our holiday pictures! An plus Kota is just way over due and Skyler probably is as well!!

I just gave Yuki her second bath with me today. I didn't give her a full bath, she wasnt too dirty, and I didn't use any shampoo. I just ran the tap and gave her some of her food (which she loves) to get her closer and closer to the water until she was standing under the tap. She didn't scream or whine, she just let the water run over her. I'll think I'll be trying this more often

I have a 5 month old husky. Should I wash him with cold hose water or warm shower water. The reason i ask is because I live in california and the temperature is high currently and want him to copl down with the cold water and that will cool him down.

Also after i wash him should I dry him or will he air dty?

We wash Miya with in between cold and warm, I don't think all cold will work their thick coat well. Miya hates blow dryers so we towel dry and then let air finish the job. So try blow drying on a light setting, too hot I think hurts their coat.
