Hey everyone! My 5 month old husky likes to sleep outside on the concrete. I gave him a VERY plush blanket as a "bed" but he only sometimes sleeps on that and all he does is chew, chomp and rip the blanket apart. He eats the cotton inside and I dont know what to do. I took him to a store that sells doggy beds but all he wanted to do was chew on them.

I have heard that husky love to chew on things like this so I know its normal. So my question is, what can I use for a bed that he wont destroy? Is there some special thing I can buy made for huskies?

Hey eazyb23, Once they get older the chewing is minimal, Miya has one tiny hole on hers and finally has left it alone. Personally we used old blankets from the thrift store until she was trained not to destroy. I would put them up away from her if we left her alone so she wouldn't actually eat it. This time of year it's so hot, the the concrete seems cooler, I wouldn't really worry much. Miya is inside and starts her sleeping on her bed, then moves to the floor, then the couch, then the floor, and by morning back on her bed.

Hey, eazyb23 - Renee's got the right of that, I have pads for my guys to sleep on - and thankfully they're old enough that they don't chew them! - when it's hot out they're going to find the coolest places they can to laze around.  Sasha has decided that my storage room with it's tile floor is a lot more comfortable then the rug in the living room.  Avalanche crashes where ever he feels like, sometimes it's sunbathing in the front yard and sometimes it's on the tile floor under my chair ... at the moment he's sprawled (Husky style) in the middle of the living room.

Until he decides to stop chewing or that the blanket is more comfortable than the floor - get the cheapest thing you can find!!

Link starts off on his bed on my side of the bed curled up in a Husky ball, and then in the middle of the night he goes around the bed to my partner's side of the bed on the floor, turns over on his back, legs straight up the wall, and his head under the bed and that's where he stays until morning.

Ami has a very nice dog house with a thick doggie bed layered with old sweaters. He sleeps beside it leaning next to a pine tree in a shallow dirt depression that he dug   If it rains, once he is soaked, then he will go into the dog house. At the moment, he is indoors, sound asleep under the kitchen table on a folded up old moving blanket that he has chewed some the edges - I find that once he's chewed some spots in blankets or beds, they have become "his" and the chewing stops - unless I try to replace them with something intact

They are so funny. You all made me laugh. Jeff I'm glad you posted, poor Al thought this was a women's only forum, not that he was bothered by that, haha. Amy I think you're right that one tiny hole represented HA Human this is mine and I like a tiny hole in my bed, lol. Huskies do like to den, although our bed is up off the ground(don't want to share my bed with scorpions), Miya's head is too big to fit under, so she sticks her head under the couch. lol

The gender ratio on here has been roughly 8:2 or 7:3 women/men, if we had only 10 daily active members, for a long time.

I really am one of the girls though, they all said so in a hijack once.

Hmmm...then I keep the gender ratio constant - I'm usually one of the boys! My favorite childhood game was football...right up to when I got tackled and the boy who tackled me got beet red, totally stunned then went running around the neighborhood hollering...Amy's got boobs! End of football for Amy

I would bet most of us girls on here are tomboys to one degree or another. I still clean up pretty well though. in fact I happen to be wearing makeup, and a dress today thank you very much.

And just to get the topic back on topic, while Avalanche may sleep just about anywhere during the day - when it's bedtime, he's right beside my bed!!

Meg sleeps in my bed with her head on the pillow every night...   I tend to wake up to a paw in my face rather often.

Loki has slept on my feet since he was 5 months old. Once he is out, he usually sleeps 8-10 hours without moving.

Okami sleeps in the crate, sometimes she will cuddle with me while I am watching tv at night in the bed, but when I go to bed she goes to her crate to sleep. On her own. She just prefers it I guess.
