Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

What's your favorite trick/command? - Page 2 Empty

Anya knows the obedience commands, but because she's a therapy dog (and because she loves to learn!) we teach her new commands that will amuse people or help people relax around her who may be afraid of dogs.

She does shake, high five, patty cake, roll over, sit pretty/beg, bow, she knows to retrieve certain toys (right now she only knows "fish", "giraffe", and "turtle" but we're working on expanding what toys she knows a name for), and if someone drops something, she'll pick it up and put it in your hand.

But the one that kills people is what we call "squirrel". We give her a treat and say squirrel, and she sits back on her hind legs (like a beg pose) and hold the treat in her front paws and nibbles it like a squirrel with a nut. It is hilariously adorable, and one she just sort of taught herself.

Could you please post a video of Squirrel! I'm melting of cuteness just thinking about it!

Risky knows a few. Drop it, Leave it, Sit, Lay down, All the way (sometimes she sits and then goes to lay down but her butt comes up like she wants to play!), Wait/Stay, Go in(to her kennel) Sing, Have fun(play with other pups or go outside. Pretty much like a full "release"), Potty (she wasn't potty trained when I got her at 7 months but she learned in 3 days!!! super happy about that one... and she will not potty anywhere but the backyard unless I tell her to.) We're working on Come. She almost has it (:

Thanks for all the ideas! Can't wait to teach her them.

My favorite is "speak". They get so excied to talk and it just makes me smile every time they do it Smile

Plus, it was the first time I was able to teach a dog how to do it and I'm so proud I make them do it every chance I get.
