Hello! I've had my Ellie since she was 6 weeks old (she is 7 months old today).

The breeder swears up and down that she is purebred - I've seen her mom in person and pictures of her dad.

However, everyone I meet swears that she is a German Shepherd.

I'm just curious what you think - Smile (Obviously she is the white one lol)

She looks pretty pure to me. A lot of people who have all whites get the White German Shepherd thing. How big is she? If she was much larger than a typical husky, that would be the only thing to me that would signal shepherd, just from the pics you've provided. Your avatar pic is the cutest BTW!

She is about 45 lbs (I need to measure her height). Here is a picture from today ( woke her up so she's not too happy with me):

& Thank you for the comments on my avatar. That is my sister's husky - he is exactly a week older than Ellie. We got them a week apart from different breeders.

Hello Brandy, how does she wear her tail? does it go up and "curl" when she's happy and playful? 45 lbs is quite a bit more than usual for 7 months (from my own experience only, don't take it wrong). Also blue/green eyes are quite rare in GSD. Does she have a pedigree?

When we are walking and playing, her tail is on her back curled up.

Her eyes are almost yellow/green (they are really hard to photograph).

Her parents had papers but I didn't pay extra for them.

In that case my guess is that she is a purebred husky. She's just on the biggers side. Do you have photos and measures of her parents by any chance? That way we could compare the look and the weight with them.

I can't find pictures of her mom right now, but here is her dad and a littermate:

At her age, it would be difficult to consider a mix with gsd. Like you, my girl is not breed standard and get is she gsd? Once her growth plates are done and she's at her mature size than take a look at her. Miya will be 2 in November and I believe she is a poorly bred husky or gsd was in her line on her mothers side. Miya's ears, her tail at times, her paws, height and weight are all out of standard, too big. Wait until she's well over a year. She does look husky, and she is adorable.

Seeing her father i would say that she is purebred. However that is only my guess. Snow was pretty much the same, we were completely unsure what breed he actually is or is not back then. Now that he is 13 months we can clearly say that he was just really sick and poorly bred by people that only wanted to make money selling the puppies. In the end it doesn't even matter, if she has the loving husky personality, she's golden to be honest as it is the unique personality we get these dogs for.

Jiri, I couldn't agree with you more. My girl is 100% pure husky attitude and she is the sweetest, funniest, most loving. I wouldn't trade her for anything.

EllieMae, don't worry so much, if people ask, like we get, we either say she's all husky, or for some people we say husky with a little gsd. In the end it's the attitude of the dog, not always the looks.

Thanks everyone Smile

She has a fantastic temperament. She is very loving, friendly, smart (too smart), mischievous, and loyal. I honestly never thought to look into this breed until I feel in love with her. She has been a phenomenal dog (besides the chewing and digging Smile )

Elle, you do know you stopped me cold with "Here's her father and a litter mate - and the picture I can see is one dog, one child. After I scrolled a bit further down I saw the puppy, which explained the litter mate ... but jeese, girl!!!

Renee, exactly i wouldnt trade ours for anytjing as well. Husky is so unique that i never met any similar breed. I keep saying that they are more like children than dogs to us (To me and my partner). Pure or not it does not matter most crossbreeds tend to have the husky personality.

Ellie glad to hear that she is like that, yes they can sometimes be too smart Smile Smile

My Anya is a purebred Sampled, but we have people argue with us all the time. We get told she's a white husky, a white German Shepherd, a Chow, and an Akita all the time. people can get really insistent!

But you love your dog, you love her temperament, so learn to smile and nod at the know it all's Smile
