PostSubject: Bloody nose   Thu Dec 30, 2010 1:22 am

I started panicking when I noticed blood on Jasper tonight. I looked closely and didn't see a cut where the blood was at, so I examined his whole body and discovered it was coming from his nose. I didn't see any cuts, so I had no idea as to why his nose would be bleeding. There wasn't enough blood to be too alarmed, but I was still worried. Immediately I jumped online and discovered that apparently it is pretty common for dogs to have nose bleeds like humans do. Am I the only one who didn't know this? I have had dogs my whole life and none of them have ever had a bloody nose before. Anybody else have a dog with a bloody nose? What did you do? The advice I saw online was just to calm him down and put a cold compress on the bridge of his nose. I got it to stop, so now I am just keeping an eye on it.

I didn't know dogs could have nose bleeds....but then again, Ginger's my very first dog...unless you consider horses being like very large dogs...

I had no clue either! When my Bubba got a bloody nose it was alongside all of the other no platelet symptoms. Good to know it can happen, I would have blown a gasket if I had one with a bloody nose.
