| Subject: Anyone feed Orijen? Mon Feb 20, 2012 2:46 pm | |
| Hello all I am a new husky puppy owner and I am wondering if any of you feed your dogs Orijen? I currently have a 6 year old yellow lab and she has been on it for about 4 years now. The 30lb bag in MA runs around $65. Or if you have any other suggestions on food. Thanks! |

| I feed Luna Orijen and she's been doing really well on it. Started her on Puppy Large and now moved to the 6 Fish. Over here I pay about $43 for a 15lb bag which usually lasts her a month. |

| I feed Orijen 6-Fish to my 5 yr old female and Orijen Senior to my (almost) 7 yr old male. They both do really well on it. I also feed Honest Kitchen Zeal.
Orijen can get pricey so I will sometimes mix in a good quality kibble that cost less to help stretch expenses out. You have a few options on other good quality kibble that cost less than Orijen. Have you checked dogfoodanalysis.com for reviews an other options that cost less?
There are a few on the forum that feed Taste of the Wild and Blue Buffalo - both are good options that cost less. _________________ |

| We were feeding our lab Blue Buffalo...but she has a wheat allergy and was vomiting and was getting diarrhea...so we switched her to Orijen and things have been fine for her so we don't want to switch her...I guess we should just feed the puppy Orijen and I should stop trying to talk myself out of it. |

| Blue Buffalo Wilderness has a salmon formula that is grain free. I believe they also have other grain free formulas in different protein options.
Evo, TOTW, Blue Buffalo Wilderness, Innova....all have grain free options. _________________ |

I moved her at about 11 months. I called my Vet and he told me to do the switch. |

| We feed Orijen occasionally as part of a rotation diet. There are plenty of other good options if cost is a concern. Acana is also excellent, made by the same company as Orijen, and priced a bit lower. _________________ |

I forgot about Acana! Probably because I just picked up a bunch of Evo samples from the dog show event yesterday! _________________ |

| We actually just decided to go with Orijen. Bought the Audlt Large for the Lab and Puppy Large for the new pup!...Thanks all for your suggestions. How about some name suggestions:

| Is there much of a difference between Orijen Puppy and LB Puppy? |

Not a huge difference but their ratios will be different. FWIW, Siberians are a medium breed so they don't need to be on a large breed food. However, if the parents of your pup are considerably larger than the breed standard then you might consider a large breed formula. _________________ |
