suddenly eating slow, and 2 bad tooth Empty
PostSubject: suddenly eating slow, and 2 bad tooth   suddenly eating slow, and 2 bad tooth EmptyWed Mar 04, 2015 2:45 am

I have been feeding Kaiser with the same brand of dry food since november, 2 times a day, 3 more or less cups per day.

suddenly eating slow, and 2 bad tooth 2013-010
suddenly eating slow, and 2 bad tooth Nature10

Changed the flavor once or twice with no problem.

He has all the vaccines and dewormed, the next visit for deworm is 22 may.

He used to eat VERY fast even with a slow eating bowl, he eated all like in 3 minutes, and seemed to be still hungry, and i used this in my favor to train him with "Stay" and "Go" commands, and also tried with a ball like food dispenser.

I stopped doing the commands and using the ball weeks ago , and aprox 1 week ago he started to eat very slow. I give him the food and he just dont care, takes like "1 bite" and walks away or starts jumping to me like playing, and running, he doesn't seems sad or depressed neither sick.
When i leave him, he goes back to the food but sill takes his time, more than 20minutes, he even learned to flip the bowl to throw the food on the floor and eat slow there. 2 or 3 days, when i went out in the morning to give him food, there was like puke in the floor, but it wasn't something like food or the usual puke of dogs, it was just like bit of water with withe foam. His poo maybe also decreased on quantity

Im really not sure if he has something, other than eating slow, there seems to be no other sympton, he jumps, runs, plays, eats, etc, but im afraid he might have eaten something he found (he eats everything he can bite) or is sick.

Im thinking to take him to the vet (wich can be a problem because Kaiser is still learning to be taken on a leash, i have to walk to the vet) but i might be just being paranoid haha, and wanted to ask first here.

What really might need the visit to the vet is about 2 of his tooths.

If you zoom in this image

https://i.imgur.com/9sSgaAB.jpg

You might see 2 gray little "balls" .
When kaiser was growing, i noticed a teeth that was like cut in half horizontally and grey/dark purple, and some times little bleeding on the gum, seemed that he was losing and growing new tooths, did a search on internet and apparently dogs change tooths similar to humans, so i tought it was normal. But this 2 grey tooths never fell and grown at the sides of the good ones. Not sure if they are causing a problem on Kaiser.

so any ideas?

Thanks.

Daniel, I would take him to the vet. I have no idea if dogs can get impacted teeth, or double teeth like humans, where one grows, but doesn't push out the baby teeth. Or it could be something else. The throwing up sounds to me like empty belly, because he isn't eating enough. I understand it is tough to get him there, but I would take him. I could see the gray in his mouth, but hard to tell exactly what it is. If my math is right he is about 7 months old, and he is finalizing his adult teeth, so, maybe he is having a problem with them coming in correctly. That would explain his not wanting to eat much, but is hungry. Until you can get him in to the vet, try adding a little warm water to moisten up his food so it is softer, so he can eat easier. Please don't wait too long though, although it is difficult to see in the pic, his teeth may have become infected, hence the grayness, and that is also causing him pain (I don't want to worry you, but infections can lead to more trouble). Keep us posted!!

suddenly eating slow, and 2 bad tooth 20150312

I sent the vet this picture, waiting for his reply.

I also made that conection of the tooth and food, but he still bitting other stuff with all his strenght, and the puke of empty belly also makes little sense to me, because he is eating, very slow but is eating.
Anyways, lets wait to vet answer or weekend when i take him there.

Small update: i sent other photos to the vet, he says that those are the baby teeths that should have fell time ago and are filled with blood, i should try giving him a meat bone and wait 2 more weeks and see if he loses them. If not, he needs to remove them with anesthesia ( my wallet hurts now haha).

Still im not sure if thats the problem with the food, since the thing with the food is from this week, and the teeths have more time and he stills gives strong bites to things.

Update: Took him to the vet today, apparently Kaiser has some respiratory problem because the change of weather that has been around here (and probably because he put his nose a lot of times in a flowerpot to probably just eat dirt lol) ... so he needs 3 vaccines of antibiotics and another medicine with ambroxol. The treatment is for this week, and in the weeked vet is going to check how is he and if its ok then we move to the teeth extraction. The vomit its phlegm

The teeth is not causing pain (according to vet) since otherwise it would be a real problem to just check his snout, but Kaiser didn't even notice.

I'm glad that your handsome boy seen the vet, and basically all is good. I wish you and Kaiser luck on the extractions, hopefully it will go easy and he won't have to miss out on his food much. Smile I'm sure in a week or two he'll be back to normal. Still, please, keep us posted.

Ugh...I wish I could get Kenzi that good on a treadmill. She just sits down and lets it throw her off the back the instant it starts to move.

Went to vet yesterday, apparently Kaiser is fine now, but he still lacks appetite and i need to give him some medicine for his stomach, the phlegm and other things he finds and eats probably caused an irritation in his stomach and he wasn't making good poo and might be also the cause of lack of appetite.

Next saturday he has another check, and depends on how is him to procede with the teeth.
