She will do this usually in the morning on my bed when I don't wake up. or this time downstairs in the morning. I don't see it happening often so I don't think its boredom. I have never clipped her nails so maybe that's why? Maybe she is grooming? She is def biting nails for sure but im guessing its okay. She has never hurt herself |

| That strikes me as a bit excessive to be grooming. Looks more like anxiety to me. |

| Well I'm not saying that it definitely is anxiety, but, if it is , anxiety is not a moment right now; it's a cumulative build up.
That's just how it looks to me. Keep an eye out for other signs. Look up signs for anxiety in dogs. It's actually quite common and most dogs will run into it at some point. |

| You say you've never clipped her nails, maybe they're getting a little too long for comfort? My old dog used to chew her nails too but she would get them done at the pet store. |

| It does look like some form of anxiety to me as well- I realize that you probably aren't doing anything to make your dog anxious or as far as you know. Just remember, dogs can't just say, "Hey, dude that is bothering me, can you stop please?" Or, "Wow that was loud, that was really loud outside, what the hell was that?" Or even, "Gosh this really hurts, maybe if I chew on it it might help." It could be a list of many things, but as Jeff said, look up signs of anxiety, and see if there are any other tells your dog is giving. Talk with your vet, there could also be something hurting in her foot somewhere as well, you never know.
Edit: I also just thought of something. What kinds of things does your dog have to chew on? Maybe she is trying to simulate something hard to chew on and her nails are the closest to the density she is looking for? Do you give her antlers or anything? If not, maybe try that too. |

| My dog Lexi who has a lot of anxiety issues and does that as well. I trim her nails about once a week now and it went down a lot though she will still mess with them at times. Her tolerance of them seems to be pretty low. I would suggest to start trimming them. My female hates her nails being cut though, I use a dremel on her and she seems happy with that done and it helps smooth any rough patches she creates. |
