1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Gus being picky about eating? Empty

Hello everyone!

Long time no see Smile It's been a pretty crazy couple months.

Gus is doing well in general! He had another yeast infection in his paws, but is all healed up from that now. He's 2.5yrs old now. He used to be a really good eater. He would just scarf his food down. And some of you might remember, but he used to be super skinny. After switching him to raw, he finally packed on the pounds and is probably somewhere around 65lbs now.

We started adding some apple cider vinegar in his raw chicken last month when he had his yeast infection. He really did not like this, and started becoming reluctant to eat his food. So we switched him to beef, and also stopped giving him the vinegar. He is refusing to eat in the mornings now. But he will eat in the evening, though not a full meal. In the mornings, he will sometimes eat a little bit if I spoon-feed him.

Otherwise, he is perfectly fine. Still energetic. Still playful. Stool is good.

I know there are probably many other threads on this already but for some reason my Search function isn't working. My question is whether other people noticed that their husky seemed to eat less when they reached a certain age? Or perhaps because it's starting to get warmer now? He is due for a vet checkup in the next month so I'll ask the vet for sure. But this is just so strange for him to be doing this.

thank you! Smile

Ami has gone through a picky eating period at the change of the seasons fall and spring both years since we got him. Also, I most recently discovered, listening to my own advice, that his eating picks up when I reduce his rations. And after his weigh in today, reduced rations may be the order of the day...
