| So i take koda rollerblading sometimes. Lately we have been taking a break from it. It has been just to hot and humid for that. But most of the streets around me arnt paved the greatest. Makes it a real bumpy ride for me. I remember reading softer wherls help, but they ware down faster. Do softer wheels actually help that much though? I dont want to spend the money if it only helps a little. Cause the roads are really uncomfortable. There is only one that i like going on and its short. |

| So are soft wheels for the roller blades? what kind of roller blades do you own? Also- may I ask how you introduced Rollerblading with your dog? because I LOVE rollerblading and I'd love to take my Husky, but if they see something like a squirrel or a cat, I am pretty afraid I would be dragged.. and it would be great to avoid that at all possible situations, as I live around some high traffic areas.. I'd definitely look at the type of material/feel the wheels have.. if they're more of a harder gel, I'd look into it personally.. or at least give it a shot I think what would also help is wider wheels. |

| The hardness of the wheels determines how well your skates are going to absorb things like cracks and sticks, so if you want more absorption capability then yes, you want softer wheels. I prefer larger wheels too, they make it a little easier to roll over irregularities. I just upgraded my skates to a pair of Rollerblade Macroblade 90's, they're a lot sturdier and meant for pretty serious skating, and came with 90mm wheels that are rated 85A on the hardness scale which puts them well on the softer side. I've taken them out with the dogs once, and I love them. If you really want a good pair of skates, I'd recommend them.
Definitely start off slow, and make sure your dog has a really good handle on commands like direction, on by, and woah (or stop). I'm working hard on "on by" with Denali, he's come close to dragging me off the path a couple times now. You also want to build your dog's endurance over time, don't just start off on a 5 mile run or something. _________________ Shadow's Blog Canine Hydrocephalus Support on Facebook "Being the parent of a special-needs pet means living your life constantly poised on the edge of a double-edged sword. | They make a huge difference but are a waste of money. I only use aggressive wheels, even 84a's wore too fast for my liking.
on 74a's I was destroying one wheel per session. try adding more footbeds if vibration is an issue.
I only usually have 4 wheels down, the middle wheels are just wheel cores. theres cheap wheels from china. but I must have atleast 60 spare wheels atm.
introduction is easy just make sure you get used to rolling on grass which i a good method for slowing down, and not wearing wheels.
if it's soft be prepared to start jogging, get used to rolling on only the rear wheels. I love it when he spots a cat, it's an instant almost double increase in speed.
to not be a jerk i try to keep pace and only get help up hills.

| loki and i get up to about 20mph if my google maps app is correct .. i dont use it so much as a means for him to pull me as much as i use them to keep up with him. im also using the soft wheels i believe were rated a n 88a. i had an old pair of hockey skates that had a bigger and slightly harder wheel and i found that it was harder for me to stop. the roads paved around my development are probably the smoothest ive seen and it helps a lot that its a circle. good luck and be safe!
