PostSubject: gnats everywhere!!!    gnats everywhere!!! EmptyWed Jul 15, 2015 6:33 pm

So yeah I have like 50 gnat/fruit flys flying around my kitchen. I kill at least 30 a day but cannot get rid of them! Today I made two traps one filled with orange dish soap and apple cider vinager the other filled with water sugar honey and orange soap.. The both have plastic with holes poked in them so far they seem to just fly near the cups Ive killed 1 so far :/ all these fruit trees are terrible forbthis reason.

If anyone has any solution that works for getting rid of them please share! Very Happy

I get a fruit fly invasion every year in Aug when I do peaches. This year was earlier as we have been eating a lot more bananas than usual.

First - do not keep ANY garbage in the kitchen. Ever. Second, take an empty soda bottle, 1 or 2 liter size, put an inch or two of orange juice in the bottom, set, open next to your sink (or wherever the fruit flies inhabit). THey can fly down and most of them drown in the juice, those that don't, have great difficulty flying up and out.

Ugh its terrible lol.

I took out the trash, luckily its behind a closed door pantry so they cant get to it Smile would a beer can work XD lol okay also i dont have OJ but i do have red wine, apple cider vinager I do have tangerines I could squeeze the juice into it. You dont cover thebtop with anything? These are some smart flies they fly in and out of my holes I made haha

I think a beer can might work though it may be small enough for them to find themselves back out. Red wine works, beer might even work, lemonade. Leave the top open - I think part of the reason this works is that the opening is small and they find it hard to get out. The juice acts as a bait so anything that attracts fruit flies will work - just has to be liquid so the drown.
