1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Huskies: 2

The duo spied a chipmunk - into the downspout it went. Huskies attacked the downspout, rather crushing it. Frantically digging at it, Archer actually grabbing the whole thing in his mouth and shaking it...chipmunk was staying put. So, I confess, I banged on it, shook it and even bent the opening back into shape (sort of), banged again, chipmunk fell out...Archer pounced and is now proudly running all over the yard with Ami in hot pursuit. Both extremely pleased with their triumph.

Do not want chipmunks in the walls. They can do a lot of damage.

So how come I feel so guilty Downspout: 0, Chipmunk: 0... 1625187496

Yikes! I would feel bad too.

I throw a fit at the squirrels but I'm pretty sure I'd be sad if mishka ever caught one.

You should have caught it and made a pet out of it for the grandkid. chipmunks tame down pretty well with work and are very much like having a hamster.

You feel guilty because you are responsible for the death of the little innocent creature. Without your interference he could've survived with his own defense tactics.

When you have a pest who would possibly take up residence in your house much to your dismay, sometimes you have to do things you don't really want to. We have a squirrel nest in our chimney and we had a little incident this past Sunday with a baby that fell into our fireplace. I would feel bad if Mishka would have killed it but then I wouldn't have squirrels in my chimney.

Is the autumn cruel for letting the flowers die?

Death is a part of nature. It's a naturally occurring phenomenon where the energy of one living thing is passed to the next. What Ami and Archer didn't eat will be absorbed by the ground to grow the earth. A sad truth, but death is a necessary thing. Life is nothing but borrowed energy that one day we will pass on. Something Albert Einstein once said,"Energy cannot be created or destroyed." He meant this in a more scientific way, but can it not be true of all life. Our lives are nothing but a cycle. We live and we die. That is nature's way. Don't feel guilty for killing the chipmunk, for He is all of us, waiting for the day our energy runs out.

(On a more calm note) If you hadn't done what you did, the dogs would still have gotten the chipmunk, and You would be buying a new downspout... So it was a noble sacrifice.

(I have no idea why a chipmunk in a downspout made me so poetic all of a sudden...)
