Hello,

I am new to this forum but am desperate for ideas, outside the box, on how to contain multiple huskies while camping or visiting friends/family who do not have fully fenced in yards.

A little background. We have two Siberian huskies (4&5) and we are often (both at home and while traveling) with friends that have a 1 yr old Siberian (she's a jumper) and 2 yr old malamute/Sheppard mix. We have tried the tie-out option of containment but given that they want to play and be near each other, either they whine and howl if they cannot get to each other, or they wind up in a giant tangled mess.

We have started looking at portable fencing/pen options, but the market ones only go to a height of 4 ft, which is insufficient for the jumpers/climbers. Now, that being said, we have a truck, so height is not much of an issue. Has anyone concocted something that they have found works well? Are you able to share your plans?

Thank you in advance.
Lynda

How about training them to an invisible fence and then taking the transmitter, a length of wire and a battery pack with an AC outlet in it (if no electric source). A bit expensive, but we have our dog and my son's dog trained to a fence - they love the freedom it gives them. I love the safety (they do NOT go into the road - I once forgot to put his collar on, let him out thinking it was on and for the whole day he stayed within bounds - wasn't until I went to remove the collar that I realized it was still on its hook on the wall Need to contain up to four huskies while camping - ideas please 1625187496 )

It is not something I would recommend to contain the dogs if you are not there with them - they are vulnerable to other things that come inside the fence.

Thanks for the idea. We had given that some thought. While we would use it the most, the other two would have access to it for training purposes one weekend every month. Hard to do continuous training in those circumstances.

Our other concern is that our females tend to be in their own world and aren't always aware of what is happening to them. I wonder if they would even notice the warning sound let alone the jolt should they cross the line.
