| Hello my husky is coming up to 14 weeks old now. When we take him for walks every now and then and not always in the same spot. He will plonk his bum down and won't move during walks. Now it's kind of embarrassing when everyone is watching you trying to move your husky. I'm not sure Wether I'm ment to persuade him to move on because sometimes he is happy to start walking in the opposite direction. Any advice? |

| How long are you walking for?
Also, sometimes Ami just stops, sits...looks around, leans into me. I just take it as "all's right with the world." But a 14 week old puppy - could be the walk is too long, he's contemplating the scenery, he's looking to play, he wants a drink/treat...he's being a 14 week old pup... |

| Wouldn't really want to keep giving him a treat everytime he decideds to stop tho. I realise he is only 14 weeks. It's not down to walks being to long I'm aware of the walking times |

| Rule of thumb, he should be walked 5 minutes for every month, so he gets 15 minutes. you can do it more than once a day though to work on his walks. Dont give him treats when he stops, give him treats when he walks next to you. reward the forward movement. We used our dogs regular kibble when she was that small, when she walked a block, she got one. if she stopped, we waited a few minutes before pushing her bottom up a little and enticing her with kibble to keep walking. |

| Kohdi would do this as a pup, the further he got from home, the more he did it, but man when I turned around to go back home could that boy walk! Being that young, he might just be feeling somewhat hesitant to go to far away from his "safe zone" (home)? I know I could have phrased this differently, I just can't come up with the words, my brain has been farting all day, I hope you understood what I mean. |

| Haha that made perfect sense memphis will stop but is happy to turn around. You just assume he would love to go out when maybe all he wants to do is go back. It doesn't happen all the time though |

| Kohdi was my first puppy without already having an adult husky at home, so whenever I walked the puppy, it'd happily follow the bigger one. I thought something was wrong with Kohdi when he didn't wanna walk, lol, but I think being that young, it's almost a little "scary" for them to leave home, with all the noises, smells, activity, I think it just overwhelms them. Take notice when you're walking Memphis if a noise "stopped" him. For instance, my last two huskies, the puppy happily followed along until someone across the street wheeled out their trash bin to put by the curb, Malukhai stopped instantly and wouldn't move til he figured out where the noise came from and now that it stopped, was it gonna make noise again, so he waited, haha. Noises to us become commonplace, but to a new puppy, it may startle them. He may be stopping to just to absorb all the information (sights, sounds, smells, etc) for a bit |

| Yeah I agree it's just strange. Walking walking walking sit. He doesn't seem to be looking round or his ears are not up. He almost looks relaxed. Next time il see if I can put 2 and 2 together. My last dog was a Japanese akita and I never had this. So this is why I'm asking questions. Thanks for helping |
