With liver lips and points, he's a red - to me he looks like a dilute chocolate red but that's not an official color name. Just me.

the dilute would make more sense to me...as he does not look red at all when you see him in person..only redness about him is his lips and nose lol..shoulda seen his snow nose this winter

Well, Amy is correct with liver markings, nose, lips, etc, they are a red. I am not 100% if an agouti can have liver nose. Very lovely coloration, but I do not believe the reds are considered anything but a red. With him he has sable coloring, so he is a confusing beauty color wise, lol. You may want to do a separate thread asking, there is a member here huskymom that is real knowledgeable on coat colors and she may end up chiming in on a separate thread. I also wonder about Kenai having mal in him, because that is more of a typical coat formation to mals, a look of waves. Miku, I believe is an agouti as well, or heavy masked wolf gray.

For reference my husky mix was a silver but as she ages I think more wolf gray. My gsd girl is listed and registered as a sable, which again are two different things. Gsd world there are "red" sables and "silver" sables, she is a red sable no liver nose, but it describes the coat. In huskies sable describes the color but not the coat type.

i know..isnt kenai confusing? lol...and he is a pure sibe believe it or not..maybe i have a brand new coat color! lol..miku is just an odd ball really..what do you think she is? pure husky? or mixed?..i say shes part coyote due to how she acts rofl..she is currently in my lap...35 pounds of fluff that refuses to leave my side no matter what lol..your kids are gorgeous!!! love your silver one..beautiful color and build

Thanks Vincent, my silver's name is Miya, and I list her as a husky mix, I have been studying pheno typing as an art form for a few years now and she has some gsd and something else, which shall remain as "unkown" in her recent past. As far as your cutie Miku, hmmmm, the white boots says she is a husky mix as well. I do not see any features that says coy, I have a couple of friends who have legit coydogs, and although petite I don't see it, and you being in Cali something I would not say to unless joking, because Cali has some real strict laws on mixed breeds with "wild" mixed in. When you can post up more pics, preferably outside at her level showing all of her, I could give you a better guesstimate. It's something I love to do. Smile

Forgot to mention on Miya, she is ginormous in the husky world and really for a female dog, she is 25-26 inches tall 65 pounds, my gsd puppy not quite 9 months old is 23-24 inches tall and 65 pounds.

Well then, you would be ok with that....hahaha..Cali has some interesting laws for sure.

I keep wanting to say she may be a husky, gsd, and boxer, the boxer because of her boots and a squarer muzzle. A few pics would help though. Cute video of her. She has a similar body shape as my girl but her weight says a breed that would be same size as a husky, gsd's are just a tad bigger, and boxers are similar in size to a husky with a more prominent tuck and chest. I really love her look though, I love the sleek coat and the appearance of long legs.

hmm interesting...tho i see no boxer in her or her personality...and her chest is really narrow..her muzzle is thin..not squared at all like a boxer..shes a mystery lol i can see about getting pics of her...but she rarely holds still lol

Good gravy she is adorable....I am sticking with some boxer there. Boxers are high energy doggies, and I actually think that is a good mix, hahahahahaha, if you can handle THAT much energy. Boxers are typically longer legged than a husky, about same size, and yes her muzzle is square, don't take offense at all to any of this, because husky genes are stronger than a boxer, same goes with a gsd gene is typically stronger than most breeds. so you will see more husky traits, with just some physical characteristics that are boxer. I love this girl and her looks. The blue eyes just sets her apart from most dogs.

miku and kenai's scrapbook DSCF1538

Here is another one I found.....

Yes I can....most people do not study the breed of dog they get, they just see cute, and then cannot handle their over drive, hyper, excessive play needs, and difficulty in training. Sad world we live in. Wish people would take the time and understand what a high drive dog means. Most surrenders and rehoming of high drive dogs, huskies, gsds, etc, are at the 7-10 month age. Terrible 2's are difficult for the pet dog buyer.

Your dogs are adorable, both have really cool coloring/markings.

Renee, lol, the first mix you posted looks like a Great Dane and the second looks pit bull-ish, I would be terrible at guessing a dogs breed! LOLOL

Ok, Jimmy, and Vincent......yes the first one did have an appearance of Great Dane....genetics does funky things, especially when you mix 2 or more dog breeds. Great Danes are humongous and I just can't picture a husky x GD and have it be small as that dog in that first example appears. The reasoning of Boxer is the coloration, the super sleek coat, and the jowls of lovely Miku. Huskies have a tighter jowl, you can see that with Kohdi on Jimmy's signature. Now I so badly would like to lean towards a Panda GSD, yes they exists, and that could explain the unique coloration of Miku....needless to say this beauty has bugged me all day....because it is not a common mix boxer x husky. So whilst racking my brain to think of coloration, a squarer muzzle, the thin body, small stature, the looser jowls, extremely short coat...I am thinking a husky x panda gsd x belgian malinois.....y'all feel better with that selection? Lol....like I said I love looking and seriously hard to determine because, a good "artist" in pheno typing, needs close to a hundred pics of every angle, etc. Another issue is what type of dogs are found at the local doggy pound, what gets advertised on craigs list, determines what type of dogs are typically found in a particular area. Like where I am labs, pits and chis are the norm. California is so vast as far as dog breeds, that just about anything can pop up as a mix.

This is what I found for a husky x belgian, and in my opinion it probably has some panda in this dog too.

miku and kenai's scrapbook Th?id=OIP.Mfd6d06979c5815eb66410bbe4d4891b7o0&pid=15

btw....it is only recently that I have been made aware of the panda gsd, so....things constantly change in the dog world.

lol she is an oddball isnt she? lol...her coat isnt as short as a boxer and she has a thick undercoat...think german shepherd coat and you have her coat..but with the extra undercoat under it..which is a cream undercoat heehee..i can get more pictures of her if you want..mainly when shes asleep? as of right now shes passed out in husky ball formation on the edge of my bed lol
