Now I'm going to issue one word of caution - I see Mako on the exam table without any one immediately next to her...as a kid, we had a bad experience with a pup who, at about that age, jumped off a bed, broke a foreleg, had it set in a cast, grew faster than expected, the foot became trapped, tissue died, foot was removed. Puppy never regained his vigor and ultimately died within the next 6 months. He was a beautiful Irish Setter.

So I get nervous when I see pups up on surfaces without a hand laying next to them...just like a baby on a changing table or toddler in a shopping cart (had one of those go ass over teakettle, too )

Thanks everyone! @amymeme that's terrible that that happened. Husband took them to the vet and took that picture. He sent it to me at work, at which point I immediately told him to grab him off that table! He's such a brave dog, he attempts to jump off everything.

I love Kai's structure, wow those legs, reminds me of my girl. I adore muddy huskies, and they both looked like they had an incredible time playing......You have 2 very lovely huskies.

they had a fun time playing in the mud puddle, very cool muddy fur baby pics, looks like the love puddles hopping lol. they look very cute sitting in the car.

She has such long legs! No one believes that she's a husky.

The kids just love mud puddles. Everyone else at the park tries to keep their dogs so clean and we encourage the puddle play.

Makos starting to turn Chocolate brown and it's the cutest thing ever. It's coming in in patches so he has weird spots of dark fur all over him. I just got home from a weekend away and now he has the cutest mask coloration. It's like dark brown googles.

I love all the pictures of your pups - they are gorgeous and look so happy...

As for color changes, we got Ami at 1 yr of age. His coat has several shades of red/taupe/mahogany. And it changes with the seasons. In Jan he has deep rich mahogany tiger stripes over his back which are gone in summer - the sun bleaches his coat to a soft apricot. Around his face and shoulders he has a lovely very soft taupe color that blends into a lighter peachy red around his ears. The taupe color seems to be more sun stable than the red. And his undercoat is a lovely soft cream color - just off of white.

Such good looking pups. Mako is getting big quick! Love the mud pictures, ours loves a good mud pit as well. People always look at us like we're crazy for letting him roll around in it. Glad we're not the only ones!

@Amymeme - Did you ever see puppy pictures of Ami? He has such awesome coloring now, I wonder if he was lighter or darker as a pup. Kai is similar to Ami, her coat changes every year or so. She started out DARK black and is now mainly gray with black on the tips of the fur. Our breeder said Mako will likely be a little darker than his grandfather:



@mssuchy - We are the ones laughing and running around with the dogs in the mud puddles while everyone else frantically chases their dogs around to keep them out of the puddles. I just love to see Mako and Kai happy, and they really love mud.

Leo did a similar thing he turn chocolate/mahogany color around 4 months old, then he lightened to a apricot color his first year and it was solid with no fading. then turn a orange red for the winter last year but it had fading on the sides. not sure what he will look like this year for the spring.
