Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

I think you should feed your dog whatever they're doing best on, whether it's puppy-specific or all life stages. I was feeding Suka a puppy food, but I hated buying more than one type of dog food. So I put all my dogs on the puppy food until the bag was gone (I used a calculator to figure out how much to feed the adults rather than going by the bag's recommendations) and am now swapping them to Victor, an all life stages food. It's less than $1 per pound and a high quality food. In fact, Suka is doing better on it than he did the puppy food. So if you get stuck and don't know what to feed your dog, that might be one to look into. All of your dogs could eat it. Smile

One thing that we have to understand, the op is talking about a Mal not a husky, Mals are a large breed dog vs a husky that is medium. Considerations must be taken into account that is very different in how we feed a husky as compared to a mal puppy. Calcium to phospeherous %'s must be viewed and understood. Op believes her Mal may weigh up to 100 pounds, that is double the size of a breed standard husky, feeding will be quite different. As far as amounts and as far as the percents. A husky typically will be close to full grown at around 1 year, large breeds will be closer to 2 years, a slow steady growth is recommended for large breed puppies.

Ooh yeah, I completely forgot about the part where it's a Malamute. You'll want to get them on a puppy food specific to large breed dogs. It'll keep their growth steady so they don't wind up with bone and joint disorders later in life.

Thanks guys. I have them both on TOTW, adult formula for the huskies, and the pacific stream puppy for my Mal. Smile
