Mako seems to be shedding his entire coat. Is this normal for a puppy? It's coming off in giant clumps. I know this is normal for the big one (and its that time of the year), but mako is only 5ish months. Do puppies blow their coat fully before getting their adult hairs?

Sidebar: we have him on the soresto collar for fleas and ticks and I read one of the side effects is hair loss so I'm a little paranoid.

Some just start earlier than others and it looks like it is his time. As long as the coat beneath looks healthy and there aren't any full on bald spots I would just go with it. Baby is growing up. Sad

That looks like a pretty normal coat blow, but he looks like he needs some help getting it off.

Do you brush him regularly?

He looks like he needs a few sessions with an undercoat rake or shedding comb Smile I have that shedding comb and it's a miracle for $9

I can't believe he's already blowing his coat Crying or Very sad they grow up so fast. I haven't really started brushing him much. Just a little bit when we brush Kai to get him used to it. I guess this weekend will be a serious brush session.
