So the mister and I just got back from walking the dogs. You all, as fellow husky slaves, can probably appreciate the fact that, you know, huskys PULL. So the mister is walking him when he throws a fit and pulls in the opposite direction, so, as we've been instructed by our trainer, he immediately corrects him by pulling him back to get him in line again.

So this lady stops her car, and starts SCREAMING at us about how we're abusing our animals and she's going to call the cops, were aweful, etc etc. The mister even says "no, we're training our puppy" which she still freaks out over. She sits there yelling at us all the way up to our driveway telling us she's calling the cops for training our dog.

Yes, look upon the faces of our horribly abused animals.

So far, no cops. It's been 20 minutes. I'd LOVE to have the cops come in and see how "horrible" we are. The mister is all upset now. I'm just ticked. We rescued one of our furbabies from a truly aweful circumstances. I cannot stand people who a)HAVE to get involved in things that literally have nothing to do with for No Reason and b) people who have no idea about animals telling me that I'm horrible for x reason or y reason (can't wait till I have human kids to be upset over too).

Sorry guys.  I just don't have anyone else to vent to. The mister is just sulking.  Crying or Very sad

I think I'd have whipped out my cell phone and told her I'd call them for her...and added a woman is yelling and screaming in my driveway and appears to be mentally unstable and may need to be taken away to be evaluated. But then, I can be an ass sometimes, haha.

When Mishka was a puppy, I had her outside and walking with a leash, I was literally two houses away from my own when she went and laid down on someone's lawn (something both my dogs do to this day!!!) and a woman walking her dog on the other side saw us and yelled over that Mishka was obviously tired and I shouldn't be walking her anymore <rolls eyes>

We did offer to, lol.  Pretty sure she lives in one of the houses further in, I told the mister if she ever bothers us or the dogs again that we'll just grab her liscence plate numbers and call the cops ourselves.

I would understand if someone saw someone doing something legitimately bad-we contacted a rescue about our neighbors husky who was being consistently starved and neglected. But to stop on a street to harass a couple walking a PUPPY who is clearly not 100% leash trained yet and is bolting into a driveway... How. Dare. We. Correct. Him. I mean he would probably magically get transported from in front of a car if he did that, right????

Ugh. I doubt she even has a dog. Let alone a strong puller.

Seriously they yelled at you for her laying down? Good grief!!!!!

My wife cannot control Bodhi on walks without a prong collar.
We have had people admonish us that it is "inhumane."
I've tried to explain that we aren't yanking on it; the dog self corrects when he goes sideways against it.
I've even volunteered to put it on my own neck and have them pull to show that it doesn't break the skin.
But no, they just keep insisting that we aren't fit to have a dog etc, etc.

Everyone has an opinion ABOUT EVERYTHING. When I first got Arya my "best friend" told me "I thought you were broke" (I wasn't) and "why would you own a husky in Texas" which is funny, because she has ALWAYS wanted a Husky (and I am moving north back to my family when my degree is finished) and even asked where I got her. Says I'M broke when I have no debt except my boyfriend's car which is only $3k away from being paid off, while she was bragging how she didn't need a job and, oh look, when she quit they were unable to pay their mortgage for 3 months until she got another job - FUNNY. Also, her 3 dogs don't even know how to walk on a leash, they're all under 3 and obese and 2 aren't spayed yet. It's amazing how quickly people talk crud when they're the ones who need to get their stuff together. Very Happy Very Happy

At my age, I tend to take peope like this with a grain of salt - sometimes a *very* big grain of salt. I've said it before, ignorance can be cured but stupid runs all the way to the bone. And stupid is something for which I have no time.

If someone comes at me with "Isn't it too hot for a Husky down here?", I'll explain how their fur acts just like the insulation in their attic - it keeps them warm in the cold weather, but also helps them 'shed' the heat in the warmer. No big deal ...

I don't know the number of times I've had to explain that "No, I won't let him/her off lead so they can play with your dog." There's one fellow down here who insists that Avalanche won't run off if he's got someone to play with ... wanna bet?? And I don't mind rounding him up when he's running at home, but not when it's beside the highway that leads into Terlingua (okay, it's not a busy road, but just the same ...)

Yeh, some people are just plain stupid and it's really not worth your time to get upset because they are....

That's basically what I told my husband yesterday, but he's still sulking... I'm just frustrated by stupid people in general.

And good lord we got that "too hot" comment when we lived in Florida still. We ended up waiting to get a husky till we moved up north for financial reasons, and everyone assumed it was because we were afraid of the heat.

LOL when we still lived in Pennsylvania, Anya LOVED to sleep on the balcony when it was cold.

So one Saturday morning, we went to the dog park (it was about 30 degrees) and when we got home and I thawed, I let her out on the balcony to nap and I made myself a cup of tea.

About twenty minutes later, there was a knock on the door...it was the police with my apartment manager. Someone had called to report me leaving my dog out in the cold. I happily let them in and showed them my dog, blissfully stretched out on the balcony sofa.

The cops laughed a lot.
