Hi all. I have a husky age 4month. He has had an upset stomach since we got him at 8weeks old. We have tried different foods and have also been to the vet, but it has not helped. Does anyone else have this problem? Is this common with huskies?

Hi Tony and welcome to our forum.  I'm making the assumption that when you say he has an upset tummy that you're determining that by loose or sloppy stools?

The sad truth of the matter is that while some Huskies seem to have cast iron stomachs, others tend to be allergic to even just the slightest amount of some things. Grains, in particular, often seem to be a culprit and most dog foods are grain based.  Can you comment on what types of food you've tried?  Many vets in the US stock Science Diet and while I personally don't care for it (or the cost), it is a good way to start to get a handle on what your pups allergic to - if it's an allergy to something in his diet. (definition of 'good way' - generally smaller quantities and specific types of food)

I will note that if you've tried several(my italics) different foods, that might be part of the problem.  Some dogs seem to resent change and switching out dog food too often can cause them to be 'loose'.  It's best to switch slowly - mix a little new into his old food and gradually increase the amount of new food.

If you've tried all of the above, then putting him on a simple rice and chicken diet (use the google function of search here and it will turn up plenty of ideas).  Also, many have found that adding a spoonful of pumpkin (not the pie filling, canned raw pumpkin) to each meal will help relieve an upset tummy and solidify his "output".

Some information I'd want to know is what food was he on prior to you bringing him home, what foods have you tried, how long have you allowed to transition onto these foods, what quantity of food are you feeding and how often.
