2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Hey guys! Sorry I've been absent,my life has become work and my dog! I haven't had the chance to respond to the answers on my previous post, but I am grateful for the time you've taken to help me out. Jupiter really has been settling in! It's almost been two months and I'm really starting to see his personality come out. We've been settling in to a weekly routine that works for both of us and I can't believe how much happier he is than those first two weeks. My friends and my family can all see the difference too.
I think I left off right before our vet visit, so quick update: he's a perfectly healthy three year old! I've spoken to a few breeders who frequent the dog park and the consensus is that he's a husky malamute mix. I've met some great husky owners in my area, some of whom are members of Arctic Rescue. I've gotten some great resources from them, including some bikejor training! He still doesn't like to run for more than a few minutes at a time. Despite what the vet said, a few dog owners have pointed out that he may have some hip problems despite being so young, so I'll be looking into that. Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with it? I've been told fish/salmon oil pills and half a baby aspirin can help for long hikes. Overall, even though we're still having small problems with pooping in the house, things are going really well for us and I'm so happy he's in my life.

I do have one question. I've seen signs of separation anxiety start to develop. I have the energy and resources to support another dog. Would that be good for him or detrimental? I feel so bad about leaving him by himself while I'm at work, I think it'd be good for him to have another family member, but I don't actually know. I was thinking of fostering for the Arctic Rescue, and I've already been approved to do so. There's a specific dog that I've already fallen in love with. He comes to the dog park often so I know he and Jupiter already get along.
I guess I'm asking for your opinion, I've heard they're easier together, and I've got the commitment, so what do you think?

Nice update! well I have to admit a good majority of us have 2 dogs in the household, some have more than 2, and a fair chunk have 2 huskies or more. So......I would foster, which will probably mean you will fail. Smile

Husky x mal.....hmmmm I don't see mal, you have pics of Jupiter standing? He is a wonderful looking guy, glad things are going well.

The hip thing, bumping this with my reply, maybe someone has some suggestions. I do give both of my girls happy Hips (they are like a soft cookie vs a jerky), they love them, and they are limited ingredients, like 6 ingredients. https://www.chewy.com/dogswell-happy-hips-lamb-strips-dog/dp/101798 they have lamb, chicken and duck. I use them as a preventive, but caan also be used to help dogs who are having issues.

There is a long thread on here with lots of information and experience with supplements and arthritis.
