Hello Everybody Smile

So, my dog always had problems with food. He was always very sensitive with everything he ate. Finally, His vet decided to schedule an exam with a specialist vet to see if there was something really wrong with him. Well, on wednesday he had the exam and we found out that the walls of his stomach are extremely sensitive and he doesn't digest food well. The vet says it's genetic, that it can't be cured, he has to eat hypoallergenic food.
The thing is... I have 2 co-workers that feed their animals natural dry food. They say that is so much better and that you can see the difference in their coat and everything... but it's hard to find natural hypoallergenic dry food at an economic price. I saw this one from Greenwoods:

http://www.zooplus.com/feedback/shop/dogs/dry_dog_food/greenwoods/saver_packs/439713

It has good reviews. Has anyone used it? What foods do you advice? I live in Portugal (Europe), so I don't have some of the brands you talk about :/
I want to find one as fast as I can, so Ghost won't have to keep eating something that makes him sick Sad

Thank you very much.

It's not a brand I am familiar with but seems like it's okay. It's a tad low in protein but they do seem to have a variety of protein sources to choice from. Are you just needing sensitive stomach food or did they identify an actual allergy that is causing the upset?

It is a brand that us US folks are not familiar with. I agree with Jenn, what exactly did your vet say is wrong? Does he have an allergy or leaky gut syndrome? This food is quite low in protein and fat. Typically the numbers you want to see for a husky is protein 23-30%, Fat 15-20% and fiber 3-5%. and grain free seems to be the best route for huskies. Did your dog have issues with diarrhea? It would make sense to lower fat and up fiber. So knowing a little more will help us help you. Overall the food does look like quality food, you may, dependent on what was diagnosed, have to supplement if using this food.

Hello Smile

Sorry, I could only reply now...

It doesn't appear he has any allergy. The vet only said that the walls in his stomach are super sensitive and he can't digest food very well, so he has to eat hyppoalergenic food :/
We use to put a little chicken mixed with his food, to make him eat it better ( I don't know how you say it :/ it's not big chunks, but like you do with kids...) and the vet said that he dind't know if we would have to stop doing it... He told us to wait and see how he reacts to the new food. He says chicken is not one of the most agressive proteins. He also told us to stop giving him treats, now we have to buy him some special treats.
He used to have diarrhea from time to time, but it was never too often... sometimes he would just didn't feel like eating very much, or he would start to eat things like grass and puke.

Thank you all Smile

What are Ghost's symptoms, the food is fine, but not knowing his symptoms as to why you took him to the vet in the first place makes it hard to help you. You said he didn't have constant diarrhea, and throwing up doesn't appear to be the issue either, is he at a normal/healthy weight? Just curious what prompted you to go to the vet in the first place.
