Thank you both!! Definitely took some effort to get her to jump, as she didnt like swimming beforehand, but so so proud of her persistence and motivation to get that ball!

Just an update from our last event, the Eukanuba Performance Games. Ame and Yona both competed all three days - Yona's fastest time was 24.88mph, earning herself 8th place in Siberians. She is still nervous of the line and only doing a recall game - not in it for the chase - so overall I am pleased with that time.

Funny story for Yona. On her third day, I didnt have a 3rd person to be my releaser (as a friend who was with me was already holding Ame while I ran Yona) so I tried Yona on the continuous loop for the first time. Now, every time before this, I was in the catching area yelling her name, and she was running for the sake of getting to me. Regardless, I figured I'd give it a try. Got her into the chute, waited for the tally-ho, and I released her. She took off pretty well. Then as she gets halfway down the chute, she slows down, and goes slower, and slower, and yet slower.. until she stops. RIGHT in front of the timer. Now, I wasnt worried about the time. I didnt care if it was 1mph. I was just hoping to get her through the timer so I didnt have to run her again. So I yell her name from the start chute. YONA! She stumbled through the timer, and spun around and looked in my direction. I throw my hands in the air in a big hooray, and am about to go get her, when the operator says oh no no the timer didnt catch her time. Then as theyre about to reset the timers, Yona realizes where I'm at, and lopes down back to me, getting a decent time and triggering the timer properly. Not terribly exciting, I just thought it was pretty funny looking back.

As far as Ame, she did me really proud, running some really nice runs. She earned her a spot in the top 16 fastest dogs and got invited to the championship Sunday, however she blew it on a pretty slow run, she was being lazy, so we didnt make the top 8. Shes hit and miss with her drive on it, but I do this all for her so if she wants to lope, then so be it!

Yona also earned her BCAT at this event, so both Ame and Yona have their BCAT's now.

So I just realized I never posted - our primary sport has always been mushing, and the reason I have four dogs from a mushing kennel. In January we competed in our first snow race. Dan let us borrow his 10yo dog "Boo" who is from Karen Ramstead's kennel, and despite my dogs never meeting or running with Boo before my 4 dog team placed 6th out of 16 in a pretty competitive class of purebred teams. I was really proud! The race was called the Tug Hill Challenge on February 17th/18th 2018.

Yona tried her hand at lure coursing today for CAT instead of fast CAT. She ran... but didnt chase the lure LOL. No Qs for us today. Thankfully she recalled. Having fun is all that matters Smile

Thank you! Mushing is definitely where they're in their element.
And yes we all had a good laugh at the coursing trial, she was loving it so that was worth the entry.

On April 28th I took Ame to the fast CAT at Gated Dock spur of the moment. It's the same venue where she did her first ever fast CAT last year. She rocked it as always with a 26.98mph (had the calculations wrong the first time).
1 - Team Yukikaze - Updated 01.01.19 with Mushing - Page 2 _mg_7110

Then Sunday, April 29th, I took Ame and Uta to the fast CATs in Eaton. Not very fast times but I was VERY proud of Uta for running it and that solidified my decision to enter him into future events.

Unfortunately Yona couldnt come since she was IN HEAT! I swear these girls love to play games with me. First Ame went into heat before the CAT, then Yona before the fast CAT Razz Thankfully thats all over now though and their spays are in a month and a half. But I have events planned including the Sleddog Showcase in NH next weekend and fast CATs in Eden, Maryland on June 2nd/3rd. The dogs and I will be kept busy this summer!

So true! Although honestly the heats weren't as bad as I had imagined. Never had any obnoxious whining or screaming, no doors being torn down or crates being broken out of, the intact boys honestly didn't care that much!

You are very lucky with that! As a kid, we had an intact Irish Setter. The goal was to breed her...bred she was but NOT to another Irish Setter. She was a marvel at escaping, slithering out any door opened, no matter how guarded it was. After, I think, the third very large litter of black and brown pups, parents gave up and had her spayed.

Over the weekend we drove to Maryland for a fast CAT event.
Ame's best run of the weekend was 25.66 mph.
Yona's best run of the weekend was 21.13 mph.
Uta's best run of the weekend was 22.33 mph.

The dogs were facing 100% humidity and thunderstorms saturday, and a very wet course and high winds sunday. Despite this they managed to still have decent runs. Couldnt be prouder.

I'll post pics from the photographer when theyre posted.

Long needed update! Here goes! I've been SUPER busy with the dogs and work. Tons of work changes and training, and then I got Natsu in July (did I post about Natsu? Well I got Natsu). Then came more dog sports and mushing and SO MUCH CHAOS in my life!

Last time I posted Ame, Yona, and Uta did fast CATs in Maryland. Yes, that was fun, that was awesome.

After that trial I decided to stop fast CAT for Yona as she didnt really enjoy it, and since then I have started rally with her. We have our first trial January 6th, wish us luck!!

As for Uta, I gave him a shot in CAT. No go, he was way too unfocused, he had fun having some zoomies though. So, no more fast CAT for Uta either. At this same trial I let Haru do a puppy run for CAT though, and he LOVED IT! Here's Ame and Haru running on 06.23.18 for CAT.
1 - Team Yukikaze - Updated 01.01.19 with Mushing - Page 2 36461310
1 - Team Yukikaze - Updated 01.01.19 with Mushing - Page 2 36381310

Then on 06.24.18 Ame and Uta had a fast CAT even, that was Uta's last fast CAT and his last points needed for BCAT and Ame's last points needed for the DCAT title! Ame was the first Siberian Husky to achieve DCAT and is currently still only one of two to do so.
1 - Team Yukikaze - Updated 01.01.19 with Mushing - Page 2 36650910

1 - Team Yukikaze - Updated 01.01.19 with Mushing - Page 2 36672311

07.07.18 and 07.08.18 Ame did more fast CATs, and earned about 100 points.
07.21.18 and 07.22.18 Ame got 4 Qs for CAT and about 100 points for Fast CAT.
08.03.18, 08.04.18, 08.05.18 Ame did more fast CATs and earned about 150 points.

08.03.18-08.05.18 Ame also had her first dock diving trial! She earned her Dock Novice title Smile

1 - Team Yukikaze - Updated 01.01.19 with Mushing - Page 2 38683611

09.01.18-09.03.18 we entered our second dock diving trial. We got enough jumps to be ranked with NADD, making us the first Siberian Husky team to be ranked and the first Siberian Husky team to earn an invite to NADD Nationals! That was pretty exciting Smile (I did not unfortunately have the time off work to make it down to Florida to attend Nationals, perhaps next year!)

1 - Team Yukikaze - Updated 01.01.19 with Mushing - Page 2 44938610

09.29.18-09.30.18 Ame had 4 more fast CATs to earn her another 100 points. After these four trials, at that point she was only 7 points away from her FCAT title.

10.28.18. Haru and Link enter their first Fast CAT event and Ame gets the last points she needed for the next title up, FCAT. Once again she was the first Siberian Husky to achieve this title and is currently the only one to hold it, though her husky friend Asher should be joining her this spring!

Whoops only thing I forgot to add - Ame and Yona got their CGC and trick dog novice titles Smile
WELL! I think thats about it! I'll include a training photo as now I've just been training the dogs on the rig while I practice rally in my spare time with Yona!

Great pics.  Love seeing dogs in action like these!

Random question:  Looks like you have a minivan for transporting the dogs.  Is that some sort of divider/ barrier in the back section?  If so, which one?  We have a minivan, but the only decent barrier I've seen is the Travall, which is nice, but $$$.

No I actually use ruff tough crates in the van rather than a barrier. In the pic attached my back seat is up and I've got a folded up wire crate against the back seat which is why it looks like a barrier. Usually my seats are down and I typically have 4 crates in the car.

Got it.  Thanks.  We're currently using a large wire crate for both our dogs.  I thinks crates are a safer way to transport them if tied down- but taking it in an out every time can get old. (Can't imagine having to manage all your dogs and crates!  Smile ).  Unfortunately, leaving it in the van is not an option at this time.

No probs! Yeah my crates stay in the car most the time so that helps a lot ????
