Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

PostSubject: Adult Huskies go strange after move   Adult Huskies go strange after move EmptySat Apr 29, 2017 6:04 am

Hello,
I am experiencing some behavior issues with my 2 adult huskies. The background: 3 and 7 yr old, boys, been living together over 1 yr, moved to new home 6 months ago.
Advices needed for behavior correction.
1: They started to do potty at home regardless how long a walk ago. I have used those bleach, urine breaker product to remove trace of urine but still no luck.
2: They are starting fight over food why is that happen?
3: They are getting in-cooperate during shower with groomer.
4:The 3yr old shows aggression selectively toward people. When stranger try to pat him; when he be told off; when he see toddler walk toward him.

What kind of introduction to the new place did they get? One day we lived in the old place and the next we never saw home again? Or you visited a couple times to let them sniff on leash then moved? Also, did your routine change a lot when you moved to the new place.

I would treat them like puppies. Redo everything, potty training, basic obedience, the whole getting used to people again. If you have a doggy daycare then you may try to send them a couple times to resocialize them with other dogs and strangers who know how to handle dogs.

They have to get used to their new surroundings and if the new house is a lot different than the old one it will take time. With the food, feed them in separate rooms or at least far enough away they feel less threatened by the other. If there are more walls at the new place they may feel like they can't tell when the other is going to sneak up on them and steal what they are eating. Or if the spot you feed them in is tight.

@TwisterII Thank you for your advice, it is a shame to educate the graduates all over again. I didn't realise moving home would make them think this way.
