What are your favourite ways to exercise your dogs and keep them mentally stimulated? I'm always eager to learn about new games to play.

I got a lazer pointer last week, and Buddy goes nuts for it. If anyone jingles a set of keys he thinks the lazer pointer is coming out and gets into his stance and stares focused at the ground. I like to play with him in the backyard in the evening (he can't see it too well if it's daylight) and make him chase it up and down the hill. He crashes after about 5 minutes of it.
Being the smart dog that he is, if the lazer pointer goes somewhere and he doesn't feel like chasing it, he positions himself somewhere else and stares at the ground where he wants it to appear, and waits. He knows it's not a game if he's not playing, and we'll bring the red dot to him if he doesn't go to it.

My guy is not into toys of any sort. Occasionally will play for about 3 minutes with a squeeky toy. What really gets him is a long walk on a long line. Ditches, tickets, deer, rabbits, field mice....all the pee mail. Reading the wind. That's my boys favorite. Second is playing with his buddy Archer.

My boy is pretty low energy so it's pretty easy for me. He's 10 months old (tomorrow he will be) and his sister is an 11 month american eskimo. They play together most of the time. Although she wants to play more than he does. For maybe 5 minutes tops I'll throw a toy and he will chase after it. Then he's done and ready to nap lol. My new favorite thing to do with him is bike riding. I just bought the walky dog that attaches to my bike and it is amazing! I don't have to go far before he's tired out. I also just brought him to his first day of doggie daycare. I plan on bringing him once a week. It has only been 2 hours and I can't wait to go get him lol

Ten months old is too young for biking or running. You risk damage to joints that are not done growing. Early dog is great but I'd wait till at least 1 yr.

I find that the best way to tire my guy out is to take a walk alternating time for sniffing and then structured heeling. Puzzle toys are also great. We have a few kongs, the kong wobbler toy, and some sort of pickle pocket thing I got on amazon, raw marrow bones are good for this too. Sometimes I just toss treats in our toy box for him to sniff out or wrap kibble up in an old blanket. We've recently gotten into playing hide & seek which he loves (good for recall training). Anything to keep the puppy mind working!

Right now the dog park is my best friend! Lol Finley get about 2 hours in the morning of playing with the other dogs and depending on my work schedule sometimes I'll take her in the evening as well for an hour or so. Usually will take a small walk in between unless I am at work. We don't have a yard so any time she gets to run around as much as she wants is crucial! After that she sleeps like a baby for hours

played hide and seek today, that was really fun for everyone involved. his "stay" is a work in progress, so i would hide and call to him, and when he was trying to find me my husband would hide, and take turns that way.

we also like long walks in the woods.

hopefully this fall I'm going to start training him to pull me on a bike, might be a bit ambitious, but whenever he's ready i'd like to get into that. he's got a ways to go with his obedience first, though. anyone do any urban mushing?

also want to make one of these for him to play with sometimes.
