Forum Rules
1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

PostSubject: Finally Introducing Ourselves!   Fri Sep 15, 2017 11:35 pm

I'm finally getting around to introducing my pup and I!

My husky girl is named Echo. She's all-white, with white-blue eyes with two gold flecks (hence the username). She's going to be two years old in January, and I've had her since she was about 6 months old. She is goofy and amazing, and we're both adjusting to life in Southern California.

She was the puppy of a husky that was rescued by a good Samaritan out of a horrible, neglectful situation that did not have room for the surprise litter that followed (Echo has been fixed so the cycle of unplanned pups stops with her). The rescuer knows the mother was a full husky, but we don't know about the dad! I might try getting her DNA tested one of these days.

I registered a while ago but hope to stay tuned a lot more. It's nice to meet you all!

Welcome to the forum. I did the embark DNA test on one of mine and was happy with how thorough it was.

Thank you, everyone! <3

TwisterII- do you have a recommendation as far as DNA testing companies go? Smile

jbealer, yes, she does have a party eye! Both of them technically are, but the right one never shows- it's just a little gold fleck on the limbal ring.

I moved from another part of CA, but I've lived all over the U.S.

Embark is considered the gold standard of DNA testing right now. That is who I had do my boy. There are others like wisdom but they just don't have the database to be super accurate where some mixes are concerned.
