I found this site and hope I might be able to get better answers than google can provide. I have what I thought to be an Isabella White with piercing blue eyes but has solid black points. I was told Isabella Whites can’t have black points. I looked it up and AKC even says that on their website. What sense does that make if it appears as if that is what I have? Please advise.

There are 2 different whites in Siberian Huskies - White and Isabella White which has buff tones in various places on the body. It is my impression that Isabella Whites have liver points and White whites have black points. There is considerable confusion on the the web about this with some "authorities" saying what I just said and others the converse.

Part of this confusion is that white is not really a color but a pattern as I understand it. The Isabella White supposedly a variation of the color red which always has liver points and the white white which is a suppression of the black coat which always has black points.

Confused? Me, too.

I have a feeling white head and light red body has to do with lighting. I think red is ruled out because her points are black.

To get better opinions, more than one pic is needed and outside pics where there isn't artificial lighting is better as well.

How old is she? (She is really beautiful, btw)

The site I looked at didn't differentiate between pure white and Isabella white in regards to the points. The undercoat is where the two are quite different. Pure whites have a white undercoat whereas the Isabella has white with buff undercoat. Your dog does seem to fit description of Isabella in where the buff shows up throughout the body...ears, saddle, elbow, hock, tail. My opinion is you do in fact have an Isabella white but I'm curious to see what other opinions are in here.

This is the description I mentioned. It's from a Siberian husky info site, colors of the Siberian husky. siberianhuskies.nl

www.squidoo.com/siberianhuskies also came up in my search, as it was discussed on this site in regards to the Isabella White. If you do a search in here, it's a post from August 24, 2012. Anyways, it too does not relate points to the Isabella, only the locations of the buff and its undercoat. I'm thinking the AKC information *may* just be out of date. From what I remember, the classifications for whites have changed considerably over the years. If I remember correctly (it's been a long time, haha) whites weren't even allowed to compete in AKC, that changed though when it was apparent white is a pattern and not a color as all patterns/markings are allowed when it comes to the Siberian. (Except Merle, of course)

Edit. The link I posted for the sqidoo site doesn't work as I posted it, but it works in the post from 2012 in here that I mentioned (I'd link it but obviously I'm not good at that, LOL) it's located in: General Discussions and the thread is dated August 24, 2012. Thread is called: Isabella vs. pure white

Well thank you very much for the info you have helped with. And in answer to your question, Banshee is three now. I’ve been wanting to get the Embark test done but I don’t know how reliable it is.

There have been several discussion here about "Isabell Whites" (see this search)

From what I saw glancing through some of the threads is that a sable has black points and the Isabella White is a variant of a sable.  Take that with a big grain of salt because I really have no idea.
