| Last night when I got home from work Appa was acting normal. We went for a walk, he ate dinner, then he was super restless and licking everything. I took him outside seems how his "I gotta go" signals are a mix-mash of who knows what thinking he might need to go. He proceeded to eat grass like crazy and then threw up all his dinner. He did this routine 2 more times: grass / vomit, grass / vomit. Afterwards he finally relaxed but he's been burping and drooling still. This morning he seemed great, then about 30 minutes after waking up the burping is back. I took him back outside, he ate some grass (not a lot this time) and no throw up. He pooped and it looked healthy and great.
I'm just keeping an eye on him unless something changes. I'm guessing it's just an upset stomach from something he ate / the stress of the new schedule, but if I'm wrong please let me know. |

| Do you know if he's eaten anything out of the ordinary (besides grass)? Sometimes, dogs will eat grass to make themselves throw-up for whatever reason, and thought that maybe Appa might have eaten that isn't agreeing with his tummy and he's trying to find a way to expel whatever he ate.
A quick call to the vet can't hurt either..... _________________ |

| He easily could have, he is always getting stuff in his mouth on our walks. If we're not super vigilant it only takes a second before he's swallowed something he shouldn't have. Which is crazy because at home he doesn't chew / eat anything he shouldn't. Outside? A whole different story.
He seems to be doing much better now, he's settled and calm. I'm cooking up some rice for him so he's not starving, we'll see how that goes. Luckily I can spend the day with him today and keep an eye on him. |

| I can't remember if Appa has had rice before, but if not, just mindful that he may not process rice, especially white, very well. If he's had rice before and he's done OK, then no worries. If he hasn't, other good alternatives to make him feel full would be oats (not the quick or instant kind, of course) or no salt canned green beans, or even some carrots or apples or bananas which can be used as treats. I mix in green beans in Storm's food as a low calorie, low fat filler.

| D'oh. I read this as he was just finishing up his white rice. He's never had it before (that I know of). I started him with just a small amount to see how he handles it though. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely use them. |

When we first adopted Ginger, and going through her diarreha issues, my hubby said to give her rice and ground beef because that's what his friends did in college with their dogs. Well....she ate it up, but didn't go to the bathroom for almost 3 days and on the 3rd day, she threw it all up. Not to scare you, because Storm is OK with rice in his kibble (don't know about plain cooked rice) but I would use cooked oats or cooked quinoa before white rice...and if I really had to, I would do brown cooked rice before white. I hope Appa is back to his normal self soon! _________________ |
