| Hello, all!
I have a three year old female Siberian Husky who really loves other dogs. However, she likes to play really rough, which wouldn't be too big of a problem, except she won't stop even when the other dog wants to stop or the other dog doesn't like playing that way in the first place. We go to the dog park almost every day so she can run, and there are a few other regulars that play with her, but if they aren't there, she tries playing with other dogs, most of which do not appreciate a 50 pound husky jumping on them and barking at them. I've tried praising nice play, scolding rough play, putting her on her leash, and even leaving altogether, but nothing really seems to be helping. I'm wondering if any of you have had experience with over-excited playing and teaching them how to keep it under control? I don't want her to not want to play, but I also can't have her making other dogs or their owners uncomfortable. Thanks in advance for any advice you have! |

| I dont let my dogs play with other dogs or do the dogpark thing but i do have 4 dogs. 2 of which play in a way im surprised no one has gotten really hurt. Anyway when spider and splinter start harassing shadow... and i mean splinter will.put his head in shadows mouth and spider will roll on her back and start pawing shadow in the face. Shadow puts up with alot but when they start on the chaos thats when i pull out the treats and work on redirecting some of that energy.
Where i live im one of the few people that dont let my dogs roam. Ive noticed the group of dogs (its about 15 dogs) stays very far from my fence. The only dog that comes over and isn't scared off by my dogs is a husky/malamute and his owner says the neighborhood dogs dont like his dog either.
It may be easier to find the few dogs yours gets along with and maybe time out when you go so your dogs friends are there, or maybe someone has a fenced yard to do a playgroup not at the dog park. |

| Wearing her out a bit before going to the park might help some. But you might also look into if you have a local H2M2 chapter of the Husky Huddle Malamute Mingle where you can meet up with other husky owners whose dogs will play similar and owners that understand the struggle. _________________ |

| We had to give up on dog parks at about 1 year. My only solution is private dog dates with other dogs that like to play the same. |
