1. Here we prefer clarity to agreement. Obviously not everyone is going to agree on a topic; here we prefer to talk out our differences in a respectful manner to ensure mutual understanding and respect.
2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. Please PM a staff member with any questions or concerns regarding this rule.

Does anyone actually give their dogs this shot? I've been giving them to Embry and Zoey as it's high risk in the midwest, but actually found out that Embry hasn't been on it for the two years he has been Mad

I took Zoey on Friday to get it for the first time, and then after he gave it to her, he told me to come in 21-28 days for the 2nd booster, WHAAAT... Embry has had this vaccination twice, and no one has EVER given him a second booster, obviously I was furiousss and the vet told me it was my fault for not being observant Shocked I was so annoyed that I had to give them another $40 to vaccinate him again!

I've never gotten it for my dogs and don't ever intend to. I know that it may be a good idea if it/ticks are a problem in your area just to be on the safe side. I couldn't tell you if a booster was needed shortly after the first though since I've never had it done.

Time for a new vet when he/she blames you for lack of observation. My response would have been, why the hell didn't you tell me he needed a booster.

I'm so glad you posted this! I *thought* Sabaka had been given this shot among all of his other puppy vaccines, so I called to make sure. Even though I thought I had asked for it, it seems he was not given first shot nor booster. Ticks are bad here, but I have been sure to stay on top of the flea and tick meds so he has only ever had one tick. However, that one tick could have caused an infection!

Thanks for the reminder! And, btw, my vet's receptionist was quick to inform me that I will need two appointments about 3 weeks apart...

ughh, i wish my vet wasn't so stupid! he's actually not stupid, i took Embry the first time to the low cost vaccination that they hold out out Petco, but the vets administering the shots are the same vets we see...I really don't get why they didn't tell me it was two parts until they vaccinated Zoey and I couldn't believe he blamed me! It's also really annoying that Zoey and Embry have different vets....I think I'm gonna call up the Holistic vet here..
