So i don't know if this is just my dogs... but they will drink until they vomit... and its both of my huskies, my mom and dad's dogs don't care. It's like water is the ultimate treat or something...

I think that's a husky thing! My first one would do that especially if he were playing and needed a drink. Our new one just makes a dang mess everywhere and I am constantly wiping the water off the floor!
Does anyone give their huskies ice? First one loved it and Rodney just kicks it around like hes a cat! :-)

Wow! The sleds drink until coughing quite often, but never vomit. That's craziness there.

Koda drinks until he vomits sometimes-- it's annoying as anything! He quite often drinks and then gags too. It just depends on how hard he was playing. Sometimes I pick up the bowl to make him stop and take a breath if he's just guzzling it down.

He also LOVES ice cubes.

Ecko was obsessed with ice cubes when I first got her... Icon is okay with them. Icon has only ever vomited if he was playing real hard before hand... but he does cough afterwards...

Wow, I'm glad I found this thread! Ghost does the same thing. She's never vomited after drinking, but will run over and drink until she gags. We got the biggest water fountain we could find for all our animals to share (2 cats and a Cocker Spaniel), so Ghost will put down a good liter or more every day. We've only had her for 6 days, but we were both wondering if that was normal Husky behavior, and after reading this I guess it is. She also likes to put her front paws in as well, which does make a bit of a mess. Thankfully most of our house is tile!

I actually just started making "Niko Popsicles." I just freeze a nylon bone in with some water (now chicken broth/water mixture to keep his attention longer) and then let him loose on the balcony! Smile

I got the idea b/c he seemed to want to chew with his molars, and since he's a puppy & its summer, I thought he'd like something cold! It also keeps him hydrated. Definitely a keeper! I do recommend a "tilted" bone (bottom picture) as opposed to 90* angle (top picture); it's easier for him to chew on.

Anushka drinks alot but usually in several trips throughout the day and (thankfully) never to the point of gagging. She really does need to learn to wipe her mouth though.

Sebo is an Ice cube junkie! Mikko is the gagger, drink gag, drink gag and drink some more. I always thought he was gagging due to washing down the fur balls since he cleans himself constantly.

Oh my gosh I'm so stealing this idea! Drogo LOVES ice cubes. I actually use them as a reward for good behavior lol. Cheapest treat ever. I think he would flip over this idea - thanks for sharing!
