I have a friend who is a psychologist if you need his number, LOL!

My pack had no reaction to the quake which lasted 15 to 20 seconds. I really think sometimes this is the portal to hell. Maybe they are just more used to it than their human dad.

lol!

Moore, OK = The portal to hell. Yep, that about sums it up...

I might have to take you up on that phone number. But seriously, I've lived in IL, OH, MD, RI, FL, and OK, and besides the natural disasters (and I'm fascinated by tornadoes so I liked that...) OK is a pretty decent place to live. It's a little warm in the summer for my liking, but the cost of living can't be beat, traffic almost never gets bad, the city is clean and generally quiet, the economy is reasonably stable, and if you know where to look there are tons of outdoor activities. I really miss the mountain biking.

Seriously, there is some killer mountain biking there. I was a big racer while I lived there. The best trails in the state are probably at Roman Nose and Osage state parks, but there's good stuff in Stillwater, Ardmore, and the Thunderbird trail is really challenging. Draper is a great place to learn as well, and very convenient to Moore.

Just a heads up, btw. There is a pretty big tornado on the ground near Manitou, and a bunch of supercells by Lawton heading NE. Might be in for an interesting afternoon...

Yep, it's looking nasty, almost 80 degrees...

Technically I guess it's called mountain biking but I would call it more dirt biking but then I'm more suited for the beauty of the 14teeners than the hills of Oklahoma. The rest of what you mentioned is very true though.

Fair enough. I guess it qualifies more as cross country racing as opposed to true mountain biking. I really want to do Leadville one of these years.

So how was the tornado followed by earthquake tonight? I think I will call it a Quakenado...

Yep, I miss Oklahoma

Fortunately, the weather didn't move into the metro until well after sunset so it was diminishing when it arrived. Mostly flash flooding in far North OKC. It was funny to hear thunder and feel a 4.7 quake at the same time. Holding out for retirement so I can leave to a quiet mountain retreat.

Shoot, I want to move BACK to Oklahoma. In all seriousness, I need to call USAA and inquire about earthquake insurance for the house I still own in Moore... Never thought I'd have to worry about that one.

The news said it will average you $60/yr for an average house costing $100,000. Also they mentioned that most insurers won't cover you if there has been a quake > 5.0 in the last 6 months.

It's still worth a call, and USAA is better than most companies. I've read recently of some companies dumping people in Oklahoma after filing claims for tornado damage. Here in Florida, they are the only company that will insure people, and even then you have to be on orders to be insured. That's a big part of why I chose to rent instead of buy on this tour. That and my inability to sell the house in Moore. Though, I may wind up back in that area in another 3 years or so, so it was worth hanging on to anyway.
