2. Read the Stickies and Announcements. Each sub-forum may have specific rules which trump the Forum Rules in cases where there may be conflicting information. Read the rules of each board before you post so that you are clear on the expectations of the staff.
3. Respect ALL Staff and Admins. These people volunteer of their time and MUST be respected as well as their word adhered to. They are responsible for maintaining a free, open, clear and organized forum. Anyone found to be openly undermining any official ruling by a staff member will be warned.
4. Signatures: One picture only and no links. Images: To keep the forum looking neat and tidy, we ask that members insert just one picture only in their signatures. The picture should be no more than 200x500 pixels and should be of an appropriate subject, for example, your dogs and their names. Should you need assistance creating an appropriate signature, please PM an Admin and we would be happy to help! This is to ensure that signatures remain a welcome addition to our forum instead of a cumbersome distraction. Links: Hyperlinks in signatures--unless to a personal blog or photo stream of your dogs (like Flckr or Piscasa, for example)--are strictly prohibited. since it's gonna be almost 60 degrees today, gonna get Massak out for his first mountain bike ride to see how he does. The only thing I am concerned about is me not seeing if he runs off after a deer while I am riding and i could be a mile away in no time. (but I guess that's why he has a collar with my number on it!) I feel he will be more focused on chasing me tho. it will definitely be physical exercise for him, but it could also prove to be good training exercise! Smile

Well I think I found a great way to really exercise the dog! Physically and mentally I think. And the best thing, it was like he was on a mission and that was to follow me. Focus on nothing else unless I stopped. (Of course the second I did stop he saw some deer to chase) He stayed behind the whole time following. Maybe that is something about the northern breed being happy when they have a job to do of some sort. In this case, follow.

I do need to find out or gauge when it's too hot for him to run though. I have read that their thick coats not only keep them warm, but also help keep them cool. One thing for sure, I need to make sure all rides will be on trails where I know there will be lots of stream or creek crossings, etc for him to drink and cool off. I knew in the middle of this ride we would be next to a nice creek for a little bit.

ok, c'mon let's go!

i know when we hike we start at the crack of dawn and get down before the "heat" of the mountain hits, still cooler then in town but will be in the 70's even then its warm, you can also try the swamp cooler out by ruff wear since you will be near water to soak it in. looks like you had a fun day out!
