Well, I am not going back there until spring and it dries out.
The place where Bodhi and I run is a wooded area bisected by a logging road. We usually stay on the gravel road, but sometimes we run on a single track trail that goes up and into some old growth. Bodhi is harnessed and he's fine on the wide road once I let him mark a couple times at the start When he gets on the trail, it seems like he wants to mark every dam fern and stump! But that's another topic.
Anyway in the middle of this loop trail into the old growth are two creeks spanned by logs. I never know how Bodhi is going to react when we come to them. If the logs are dry, he just scampers across and I run right behind him. But today leaves were down; the logs were wet and muddy. At the first bridge, he trotted out, then put it into four paw drive and shot off the bridge. I was in the middle of the log, lost my balance and fell. Luckily, I was able to jump as I slipped off the log and missed the creek.
At the next bridge, I went first with him walking behind me. Almost to the other side, he leapt for the bank from behind me. And he leapt from the opposite side that I was holding the slack harness line. Which sent me over onto my knees. Bodhi had it in double compound low in the mud scrabbling for all he was worth.
I'm starting to think I need an old engine block to put in my pack when we first go skijoring if I want to survive.
