Ok...so as I have said Jas has done fairly well in the house. There have been a couple small issues that appear to be producing a much bigger problem. She does not poop on the leash. Simply will not do it. She listens to me fairly well but does not listen to my Grama. So i take her out in the morning to use the bathroom before work and when i get home. She usually poops then. I don't use the leash and at first I had no problems with her not wanting to come in or running off. Well grama took her out and she ran to the neighbors who had dogs. I go get her and tell grama from this point on take her on the leash and she can just poop when i take her out before and after work. So, i continue my routine and she dicides to run off from me! I go get her and she does it a second time. So i start putting the electric training collar on her. No issues at first. I haven't even had to use it on her. Well today Grama takes her out and she does nothing for her all day. I come home to take her out and she pees for me but refuses to go to her "poop spot". I bring her back in thinking it odd that she doesnt have to poop! We're in for a while and grama is running the vaccuum and she comes across a pee spot...the first one in over a week! We clean it up and then find a pile left for us in the other room.. I dont know what to do or what is causing this! I do know that if it persists I will not be allowed to keep her inside any longer. Heeellppp!

Neo won't poop on a small walk. Me or brad has to give him a good walk and he will poop when its over. Sometimes they just need a little more excersise to get it going.

Don't let her run without a leash! Excersise Excersise Excersise

But why have we not had this issue before? And why the pee and the poop in one night?

Sounds like someone needs some crate time and some tough love. Mickey went through this phase where refused to poo on the leash. Just wouldn't do it. He also wouldnt poo in front of me. It was starting to really piss me off. So I brought out his old crate and if he wasn't in the crate he was on the leash outside waiting for a poo. It took probably 24 hours before he gave up and I won. Praised him like crazy and he didn't have to go back in the crate when we came inside. Since then I've not had an issue with him.

Sounds like jas has too much freedom on her hands for what she can handle. I wouldn't allow her off leash at all if your yard isn't fenced. It's super dangerous and frustrating as you can see Wink I'd start crating her while she's inside and unsupervised just to send the message home that the house isn't the bathroom. Multiple times I've had to put some of my dogs back on a strict crate schedule for a few days to a few weeks just to send a message home.

Because shes a dog lol. Maybe she doesn't like her spot anymore. I can't tell you what to do, I can only give you my experiences, and hope mine or someone else can help you.

Thanks for the help!
I'm really worried that i may have to put her out. We don't have a crate, but she has her own room that she stays in. I don't think she will use the bathroom in her room.

And yes...Jas likes to poo out of my eyesight. Usually in the woods. I think I am going to stop letting her off a leash. I hate to go that route but I may have to. I think it could be partially that she is scared of the shock collar too. It's been a long time since i have had to use it with her but she knows what it is.

Maybe she's just doesn't know that a leashed walk means that she has to do her business? How long are your walks with her? Sometimes it takes mine a good 10min of walking before they find a "spot". Is your yard fenced?

No not fenced. I usually just take her to her one spot to do her business and she does it and we come back in. Never takes more than 5 minutes. No yard is not fenced

Oh, and yeah, leaving a husky off leash isn't a great idea. Many many many things can go wrong and I wouldn't want anything to happen to your baby girl I love you

So you take her out to the yard on the leash to do her business in the mornings and when you get home? Then right back in, right? No walk involved? Does she ever get walked other than going out in the yard? If not, that might be your solution Very Happy

Oh yes she gets walked often. But her walk time is separate from her bathroom time. We do 3 miles 4-5 days out of the week. On the days that she doesnt get a long walk we usually take at least a 10-15 minute walk.

Yep, that's the same amount that mine get! Hmmm, how about putting her on a long tie out and watching her through the window to see if she does her stuff?

Mylo would never crap if you were looking always had to turn away.

Biko, rarely craps while on leash but as soon as were home he heads to the back door for the kennel so he can take care of business.

Adobo she has no shame if duty calls out it comes

Also start putting the pooping and peeing on command by saying the command words when she does it and praising like crazy. We use "go pee!" and "go poop!". Chili picked it up pretty quickly and Frosti took a few months until she stopped running around the yard instead of coming back inside - but they now are allowed to run from the door to the fenced yard at night for their final pee and poop, and also their morning pee and poop. They know to come right back inside afterwards.

However, Chili will need a walk to do his #2 business (in addition to their twice daily walks). Sometimes I have to remind him with the command if he gets too into sniffing stuff. He usually goes within a few blocks, though.

Please don't ever let your husky off leash in an non-fenced area. The dangers are too great and although she seems to be fine with it now, as you are learning, she will slowly begin to test her boundaries and before you know it, she'll be gone. Huskies are NOT offleash dogs.

I agree with those who suggest the long tie out to help. However, Kristina has a great and very effective method as well. Smile Good luck!

Jas has been doin ok. She doesnt use the bathroom in her room and she has gotten used to going on the leash. She has had a couple accidents in the house, however. I understand that this is to be expected, but my grandparents don't. We came home from a walk today and she had peed and pooped a couple times. We come in and 3 hours later she had peed on the carpet. She knows not to go in her room, but how do i let her know the rest of the house is not free game either. I am thinking of limiting her time with free roam of the house to 1 hour after potty breaks. The rest of the time she has to stay in her room. Any advice?
