| I was so excited to go to the Eukanuba National dog show in Orlando this weekend. I volunteered for the siberian husky Meet the Breed booth and my mom volunteered for the Eukanuba Extraordinary Dogs, so we both had free tickets to go (it would have cost us $20 per day!). The show was really cool. They had a huge room with about 20 conformation rings lined with vendors, two rooms plus a huge hall of Meet the Breed booths, the Extraordinary dogs in the lobby, obedience, agility, and dock diving! They actually brought in real grass for the agility and their own huge dock and pool for the dock diving (all of it was indoors). Anyway, I got to hang out with a few sibe breeders, saw a husky make a clean run in agility , and watched the malamute and sibes show. 41 sibes were entered, but only 29 showed up. But it was still really cool to see so many! I don't know what they would have done if they all showed up. I don't think they could have fit them all in the ring! And some pics of course! Cool red and white malamute Getting ready for the sibes to enter the ring. I had such a good seat! My new friend Sally. She was in charge of the sibe Meet the Breed. |

| I have a few videos of the sibes showing. I'll post them later. It's going to take me a while, cause youtube is being very slow. I was surprised when I watched the Extraordinary Dogs (normally called the Super Dogs, but for the show they had to change their name). It is really just for the crowd and it's a lot of fun to watch. They put the whole thing to music and have races, "dancing" through the weave poles that judged by a kid pulled from the audience, frisbee, musical mats (like musical chairs put on pieces of carpet), and high jumping. I only have pictures of the high jumping, but I have video of the parts my mom was in with her dogs Zephyr the American Eskimo that the announcer kept calling Snowflake and Jack the blue merle border collie who the announcer kept calling Zephyr! lol. Zephyr doing the not so high jump. lol Jack doing the high jump! You can see how he easily sails over my mom's 4ft fence if she's not watching him! And the amazing LEAP the Ibizan Hound! Man that dog can jump! Note the lady next to the jump is running and up off the ground some. That jump was well over her head! |

I tried to get a picture of the winners, but they lined up on the other side of the ring and it was really blurry. He's near the front of the line of dogs who made the cut. The best dog really didn't win though. It's sad how political showing is. The top sibe handler who knows that judge won. Go figure. And I was really upset about who he gave best of opposite sex to. She had horrible movement. She pranced around the ring which sibes are not supposed to do. But I love who he gave reserve to. I've seen that dog before and he's really a nice example of a sibe. His movement is excellent and structure is sound. |

| Ha! I didn't even see the saints at first. The group of people holding towels should have given it away. Bummer about the show politics. Makes you wonder about a dog's title a bit. Or even a dog's lack of title...

| Skyla's mom was invited to participate in the Eukanuba cup in past years. Skyla looks very much like the dog in the 3rd picture in the second set of pics posted. I love going to dog shows. Makes you get the fever bad. That said it is very hard for a novice to win against professional handlers. Ends up being really costly and a lengthy process.. No problem if you are rich and can afford to pay handlers. My dilemma is whether to begin showing Skyla with a handler. Since she was purchased under a show contract she is co-owned and I can't own her outright until she becomes a champion. Also can't spay her without permission. I need to get her evaluated to see if she can stand up to other dogs and have a chance n the ring. Her breeder lives far away so hard to make it there. Oh well, she's my baby no matter what. Would love to gave a nice male also but DH is having none of that. In my next life I am going to be single always and have as many dogs as I want. LOL |

| They were pretty quiet. Sally's dog would talk a lot at the meet the breed whenever she went out of sight. She'd let everyone know her displeasure with her mommy leaving her. |

| I'm so glad you got some good sibe pics! Had a friend that was down their showing her nova scotia duck tolling retrievers that was suppose to take husky pics for me but she only took about three pictures. Got to see tons of toller pictures though..... She is trying to convince me to show tollers, but I don't know if I could work with any other breed besides huskies! |

| lol. I've never even heard of duck trolling retrievers, but there were a ton of breeds there that I'd never heard of before. I may show someone's flat coat retriever for her. I've practiced with her flat coat and irish setter before. It is weird working with a different breed.
BTW, waited 84mins for another video to upload to youtube and it didn't save it! I don't know why youtube hates me all of a sudden. |

| I love Trollers I met a woman in Seamus agility class who owns breeds and shows them as well as agility. They're neat dogs. _________________ Cheyenne, Mishka, Mickey, Rodeo, & Odin Are you a Husky owner in South Florida?! Join our facebook meetup group! Visit our Photostream on Flickr! |

I thought it was funny that they actually had bibs on most of the saints. lol. My friend in my kennel club has saints. His one dog is awesome. Such a sweetheart and he's been doing quite well in the show ring. Even beat the top saint at one show!
But yeah it is sad to see all the politics in showing. The big shot handlers usually have really nice dogs, but they will sometimes beat even nicer dogs just because they are the ones handling the dog. One show I was in the judge didn't even hardly look at the dogs unless they had a professional handler at the end of the lead. I will never go to a show under that judge again. That's part of the reason why I like IABCA shows. There the judges write out what they like and don't like about your dog. It takes a while longer, but very worth it to the show people. Plus they don't over groom (at least from what I could tell) like they do in AKC. I'm also thinking about doing UKC which doesn't allow professional handlers. |

I wish you were closer! I'd show her for you! lol. I've already shown two other sibes when the owners had two or three of their dogs win and needed an extra pair of hands in the ring. Oh the joys of hanging around the ring to watch the rest of the sibes! You look like a new guy and they ask you for help, cause they know you're not part of any drama yet. lol. |
