| Hi,
I got my puppy Nike at 7.5 weeks of age, on the ride home she threw up in the car and we noticed that there were worms in her throw up.
We took her to the vet immediately and got her dewormed. For the next day or two she was pooing worms which I realize is completely normal.
However the vet gave us some deworming medicine for another dosage 10 days later. We gave it to her last night and noticed 1 small worm in her poo this morning. We are going to take her to the vet right away tommorow.
Any suggestions? Could this be why she wants to eat so much? |

| It takes more then one deworming to get rid of all intestinal parasites. For severe cases, which yours sounds like, it will take 3-4 dewormings 3-4 weeks apart to completely get rid of them. What product are they giving you? is it Panacur? or something else? |

| I think it's quite common for puppies to arrive with worms and need several successive dosages of de-wormer to get rid of them. And yes, worms do cause hunger, because the worms take all the nutrition. Nike is a cutie |

| We had a huge issue with worms when we got Kya. Tapeworms as well, so if your de-worming isn't getting rid of the worms, you might want to ask the Vet about a tapeworm possibility. We had to give kya 4 doses of dewormer and 2 tapeworm treatments before all worms were gone.
Part of that is that I live in Texas too, though. |

| Thanks for all the help!
So since its making her hungrier should I be feeding her more?
Im not sure which product it was they gave her but its a liquid that is banana flavored that we just insert in her mouth. She loves the taste! |

| Tapeworms come out in segments called proglottids and look like sesame seeds, roundworms are long and round and curl up when they come out of the body. After this worming, or even the next, take a stool sample to your vet to check to see if they are gone, if not, I'd start using a different OTC product like Panacur or Ivermectin. Hope all goes well with Nike! |

| She had no worms in her stool this morning when we took her to the vet. 9 weeks old and about 12 pounds. The vet gave us Drontal Plus to give her on Friday. |

| So we are supposed to give Nike the Drontal Plus today, its 1.5 pills. She cant really chew these pills i think her teeth are too soft. Is it fine to just cut them up?
